What are you talking about... I've heard numerous people confirm that it's an 8-bit panel with DisplayMate. How about supporting that statement?

Oh you mean that 1 guy.....Anyways there are many companys that claim 16.7 million colors
like the L90D+ for example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824179014
claims it displays 16.7 million colors even on the manufacturers site
http://www.hyundaiq.com/pro_spec_l90d+.asp
everyone knows its a 6-bit TN panel tho.
Or the sceptre x9g Naga IV
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824112173
claiming the same
http://www.sceptre.com/Products/LCD/Specifications/spec_x9gNagaIV.htm
yet is still a 6-bit panel. If you dont believe search up the reviews. Also the price is impossible, there is no way a true 24-bit panel would sell at $210.

Damn, it's $199.99 now, too bad you'll never see the rebate though. And to the poster above, I don't think anyone has received a rebate yet, including people that ordered back in June.

Man this is tempting. But I'm not even sure I want an LCD...I just can't get over being stuck at one resolution for my games. Desktop its fine, but I've been trying to avoid turning the res up above 1024x768 in any games, so that I don't start blowing all my cash on new video cards.

You can set it to letterbox the image in the drivers so it keeps the viewable area to 1024x768 pixels, it'll probably still be about the same viewable size as a 17" LCD and keep a sharp looking image. That's what I plan on doing if I ever pick up a 19".

Yeah, I've thought about doing that. It seems like kind of a waste of screen real estate though...I mean, if I'm going to buy a new monitor I want it to be better than the old one. I might borrow the 19" from work just to see how it feels in gaming.

I've yet to see ONE person claim this is a 6-bit panel, except you, and you're speaking out of your ass based on the monitor's price.

haha wow dude ur gettin pissed....:D oh and by the way none of those people said they tested it with display mate except for the ONE person i said earlier in this forum. All they said was it is a 8-bit panel with no proof wat so ever. Talkin out of their ass eh? My question is how have they convinced you it is 8-bit if they have no proof why are you taking their word over mine?

I'd say statements made by people who actually have the product are more useful than ones made by some one who doesn't.

Its a good deal even if its not 8bit.

You can detect emotions over a message board? Out of a quick 2 minute google search I was able to come up with a number of ppl agreeing that it was 8-bit, and not one claim of it being 6-bit (After taking your advice to look up some reviews, hoping you knew of one that confirmed whether or not it was 6 or 8-bit since nobody really knows, but guess what, there were none). And I'm sure they've heard from word of mouth it's an 8-bit panel, just as I have, and that's why I'd take their guesses over yours since you're speaking on the price alone, which is a retarded ass thing to do.

i bought a fujiplus monitor from newegg awhile back. like in june. took them 5 months to send me my rebate after calling multiple time after the required 10 weeks processing time. When i called they were like, you havnt waited past the required time, so i was like check again, i waited 14 weeks before calling in. finally said they were going to put it past the received phase to processing. waited another month and nothing. had to call again.

anyways long story short, they finally mailed me a check. it was a personal check. lol. they must be a small company, no wonder they were delaying the rebate.

First of all buddy i referred you to look up reviews for the monitors i posted that said 16.7M but were 6-bit panels. L90D+ for example, not the fujiplus. Second of all back up what your saying by posting a link that actually backs up what you say, at least link me to your google search. Also stop using profanity in your responses, take the mature route out. I admit i too would like to cuss you out but have kept my composure. Oh WAIT sorry that explains your username.......

lol @ "cuss you out", how old are you? I used the word ass and you're getting your panties in a bunch. Go take a look at any of my other posts and say I've intended to offend you with "profanity" again. You must be really sheltered, and you obviously don't know me very well if you think I've been trying to be rude towards you in any way. Based on your reaction, if I was, it'd probably send you crying, so relax.

I dont know for sure whether this panel is a 6 or 8-bit, and I've never said it IS an 8-bit, what I'm trying to get through to you is we have a member here who claims DisplayMate shows 16.7X million colors, which would make this an 8-bit panel. We've had another member here say a sales rep bluntly told him the panel is 8-bits. I know some manufacturers claim 16.7 million colors when they have 6-bit panels, such as with the L90D+. There's a difference between claiming your monitor has 16.7 million colors and claiming its an 8-bit panel, like FujiPlus has done. So far what little evidence we do have suggests this is a true 24-bit monitor. If you're gonna come in here and claim this is a 6-bit panel "for sure", contrary to popular belief that it's not, you better have something more than "it can't be because it's so cheap" to back it up, understand what I'm saying?

i referred you to look up reviews for the monitors i posted ...

yes, and that would be real useful if we were talking about those other monitors, and about useless as any proof of what THIS monitor does or doesn't support, UNLESS you have some evidence that ties the tech specs of those, to this one.

... that said 16.7M but were 6-bit panels. L90D+ for example, not the fujiplus.
Ah, so if one other panel is 6 bit, this one must be. Why is that? We can equally say that if one or two other monitors claim 8 bit, and really are, that too suggests a devious pattern (LOL).

Second of all back up what your saying by posting a link that actually backs up what you say, at least link me to your google search.

IRONY OF IRONIES. Yes, before you claim this one is 6 bit it'd be very useful to provide some kind of evidence, really anything at all that actually pertains to THIS monitor, even if a vague concept it would at least be about this monitor instead of some other monitor.

Also stop using profanity in your responses, take the mature route out.

Do you know who deliberately refrains from profanity? 3 groups of people:

1) Those effectively censored, who suffer repercussions as in a message board (when extreme), or in a busines environment where they don't yet know what the other person's preconceived notions are about it.

2) Those quite anal, who feel their ears will bleed if certain combinations of sounds are put into the same word. Seriously, if your mind is so fragile that the word fu_k__ @#$%#@#__suk__@$#@@#er_n-bleeper dum_4$$ is interfering with the conversation, the situation is probably that whatever prompted the profanity is the real problem, not the use of it, and trying to focus on the use is truely a waste of time rather than backtracking to the situation preceeding that use, the context it was used in.

3) SOB! I forgot what #3 was.

Does it always make sense, a good way to converse to use profanity? Of course not, usually there's a better adjective/noun/concept, but other times it serves well as a concise way to get a point across. Concise is nice.

I admit i too would like to cuss you out but have kept my composure. Oh WAIT sorry that explains your username.......

Really, we're far more interested in specific reasons why this is a 6 bit panel. If you had written "here's the damn link http:\....", and the link actually menitoned this model, that would've been a lot better than being composed but NOT providing a link to any evidence that this particular monitor, not some other, is actually 6 or 8 bit.

Focus, concentrate, see that above all else, we want (and need in order to believe you) some evidence that applies to this particular model. If you write "look it up" then only link OTHER monitors, we have to wonder why if there was evidence, you would spend time linking something else INSTEAD of what you think we should see by "looking it up".

I'm not saying you're wrong, maybe it's 6 bit but so far the evidence is against you.

Ha Mindless... you dug up a thread that's been dead for 2 months to flame the guy? Not that he doesn't seem like a sour grapes tool or anything, just surprised. :p

The monitor deal is still on, in fact it's now the cheapest one at the 'egg by at least 10%, AR, when you factor in free shipping. "One day sale" even. Every timely post if you ask me.

Flame? Wasn't meant that way when the post started rather than addressing why this issue wasn't resolved by insistance alone rather than model-specific data. Maybe it does read like one, I can't very well subjectively interpret what someone else would read into a post, BUT in an effort to be fair i tried to take it line by line addressing each item, even in the end mentioning that he might be right but there wasn't any evidence to support it, rather than a close-minded "you're wrong".

Again, it might be 6 bit, but without any evidence that it is, we only have same methods of determination as with any product, what is provided as supposed-reliable data. That suggests it's 8 bit.

Is there a reliable way to tell with 100% accuracy if any panels are 6 or 8 bit (without opening it up and looking at the actual chips)? Would not a 6 bit dithering panel still report to diag programs that its still 16.7 million colors (because if it didn't you'd think computer programs would have issues when you set a 32 bit resolution)?

That's almost certainly a 6-bit-per-sub-pixel twisted nematic/film panel FYI. Rock-bottom price and 160/160 viewing angle is a dead give-away. You won't find VA/IPS+Overdrive panel LCDs (17" or 19") that fast for under $450. Even one without Overdrive probably isn't that cheap. 16.7m does not mean 8-bit. They inflate it all the time! The pixel pitch is listed wrongly as well. It is supposed to be 0.294 mm. for a 19" 1280x1024 LCD. You can't distinguish dithering just by looking at color shades all the time either. Many times they use frame rate control, making it even harder to distinguish, which is actually a good thing. DisplayMate doesn't know a thing about the LCD's crystal structure. No software does. Even the 128-byte EDID doesn't contain this information most of the time.

Anyone who owns the monitor can confirm it for sure. Just look from the extreme angles of the monitor. Do any of the angles make the colors totally invert? If so, TN 6-bit. If they just get darker: 8-bit VA. Hardly anything happens to the colors at all? 8-bit IPS.

This looks like an excellent deal, even for a 6-bit TN LCD. That price is almost unheard of for a 19" of that caliber.

Edited to say...
This may not have anything to do with Fuji Heavy Industries. It is a Min Maw Precision Industry Corp. product.

no, i have the monitor and it has the same problem...AND I NEVER GOT MY REBATE FROM THAT COMPANY! That makes the monitor just over priced.
