I had some minor damage to my 2001 Dodge Intrepid ES and got a check for $120 diminished value. The damage to my vehicle was not close to $6700, it was right around $2000.
 
Is the vehicle already fixed? What's the 17 c rule? Maybe get a new insurance company if they aren't fighting for you. Ask for more money but highball it. Be stubborn and you might get closer to what you are asking for.
 
everything is negotable. have you insurance pay and then let them go after the other party if possible.
