Someone asked me how much shipping was, so I thought I'd share what I know here. I chose the a la carte option ($1.99 each for 3 books plus one free) instead of one of the prefab book packages. I paid $5.97 + $12.99 s/h for my order. The books came in 2-3 different shipments and they did not charge extra for split shipment. As I mentioned previously, they ship 4th class book rate and on top of that it takes them 2-3 weeks to process your order, so don't count on seeing your books for 5-6 weeks.
I called cust service once (317)541-8920 ... warning, plan to spend 20 minutes on hold. When you get thru they might ask which book club you want; tell the computer books direct.
Anyway, I asked them what s/h was and they said $6.45 for the first book, $3.95 for the second book, $3.95 for the third book, and $1.85 for the fourth book. fifth book and on are free s/h. That comes out to a maximum total of $16.20. That's per order; if they split the shipment you don't pay extra.
So why I paid $12.99 instead of $16.20 I don't know. Maybe the s/h was reduced as part of the intro package.
Whenever I'd get the "send this card back or we'll send you a book" cards I'd just go to their website and respond "no thanks" and save a stamp. One time I did get a book I didn't want, and I just marked "refused" on it and sent it back (as they instruct you to do). They pay the return postage when you do that too.
All in all I thought it was a great value. The books were current edition, popular titles, not old out-of-print obscure junk. My only gripe was it took so long to get my initial order.
