as much as I learned in classes, I probably learned more during my off-hours in college sitting around and getting into debates with my friends and professors... and cramming that much information in such short a time period, how do you ever have the time to sit back and appreciate what you're learning, how it applies to the world around you, and really "comprehend" it, beyond simple memorization.

AP/placement credits and lots of them.

AP classes can let you skip your freshman year and maybe the 3rd semester. But as far as I know there are no AP classes for major-related classes. So I would guess he took prerequisites and the class concurrently.

And there's no way he could have any kind of life outside of his studies. With that said, there is soo much more to life than educational accomplishments. I doubt he'll ever get to experience the mysteries of life that most of us take for granted like whether or not he/she likes me, planning a surprise for your SO, breaking up with someone, getting into arguments with friend's or strangers about real issues or opinions, fun outdoor activities, tasting wine, going fishing, etc; all of which shape us into the decent and socially interactive human beings we are today. He'll lack all of that and soo much more.

No buddy, Im not saying that if you skip college, you miss out on all of the mysteries of life. Someone who doesnt go to college can experience everything that a college student experiences. I should have made that more clear. My point was that I could bet you that this kid is an extreme case of a hermit crab, sheltered from life and social experiences, and that will sadly effect him later in his life, more so than it makes him different now.
