Is 1.2 the new bios? also, does a bios flash do anything for overclocking? thanx

I think 1.4 is the newest one...but I read about a lot of problems with it so I decided not to update. One of bios 1.2 fixes is that it will display dual channel mode (if u have it) during startup. From what I read...it seems that bios updates will affect your overclock. Sometimes you get better overclocks...sometimes worse...as with the case of 1.4. Maybe you should flash to 1.2 to see how it might help. Dont flash 1.4...too many problems out there associated with it. Whats your setup?...maybe I can help...

You have some good stuff....let me see...ur ram is better and ur HSF is better...I cant see why u wouldnt be able to get to at least where I am...what seems to be the problem with ur overclock?...I was also very hesitant to flash the bios..but its really easy...the NF7-S manual has some good directions...i think better than what i can explain online...seems like the only difference is our bios..but even before i flashed it...i was able to do 2.2 ghz at 1.6v.

I don't have the nf7-s, but my WPMW hits 2.4GHz @ 1.725v, 50 deg C loaded, 30 deg C ambient. SETI@home running 24/7.

I had it running fine at 1.7v, but it BSODed after 2 days. Even then I think it's has more to do with the 2.42 nForce2 drivers.

I would try for 2.4+ghz if not for my POS HSF...I could probably do it with the fan set to high, but I would go insane in a couple of days. The volcano 7+ on high fan speed sounds like a plane getting ready to take off!........

What is ur bios version...the new one is suppose to correct the temp probe readings....supposely the temps on old bios are 7-10 C over the actual....so maybe 60C is not so bad

uninstall the 2.42 drivers... nvidia has recalled them.. check out their webpage ... they put up the 2.03 again

btw...

i don't believe in this burningin crap but... i am now running this chip at 2.5 ghz @ 12.5 x 200 at 1.81 actual volts and a load temp of 43.5C's with the new 1.4 bios

seems like the performance of my system has decreased since the 1.1 bios though... oh well....

I know about nVidia's recall but I'm just too lazy to do it since it's not really giving me any problems and I just did a reformat coz of the 2.42 too :frown: If I were to uninstall the drivers I think it would gimme some problems.

Directly quoted from nVidia's "Recovery Instructions":

Case 3
Your system is unbootable because you tried to use Add/Remove programs on the nForce 2.42 driver kit

Flashed to 1.4 and have no problems. It also fixes the problem with temps reporting high. It didn't hurt my overclock at all.

i'm getting problems with the new bios :(

12.5 x 200 rebooted on me last night while i was IMing with a friend... i got the BSOD with two errors...

anyway.... i had to go back down to 12 x 200 cuz 11.5 x 210 isn't stable anymore either at the same 1.8 volts

dang it! that's what i get for wanting a lower temperature reading!!! :)
