Stop buying chrysler cars and your going to have alot better luck on cheep cars. Im betting its a bad tranny or the incorect fluid make sure you get chrysler only tranny fluid not the cheep stuff that says it is I had a plymouth grand voyager and the tranny would shudder with any other fluid unless it was chrysler brand fluid. DO some searching online its a common issue with the fluid.

Bingo...old Chrysler/Doge/Plymouth vehicles are not good deals because they are pretty much junk.

I that is why I got the transmission flushed at a shop I trust, and I made sure the fluid was the proper stuff (ATF+4), From what I have read flushing with the proper fluid and a TCM flash will help in some cases. But I am betting on a wost case scenario, simply because my luck sucks and the transmission is probably shot.

what type of fluid did they use? some cheep NAPA stuff? even if it says ATF+ its not cryslers own fluid you get form the dealer you may think its stupid of silly but I have seen the issue in real life only the crysler brand works right.

Well time to get rid of it then! sorry man... stear clear of older GM and Chrysler cars well and most fords a used nissan/honda/toyota are your best bet on getting something that lasts.

Here's a thought, DON'T BUY A CHRYSLER!! Those LHS-type sedans are notorious for shoddy trannys I would say. Spend $1000 and get a cheap Civic/Accord/Corolla/Sentra with a 5-speed. Problem solved!

I have quite a bit of experience rebuilding automatic transmissions and I can tell you that a simple fluid flush when the transmission starts acting funny DOES NOTHING. The damage is already done. You either have a bad solenoid or possibly a bad lockup feature in the converter....or the OD clutch pack could simply be worn out. It is time for a rebuild unless it is something simple like a solenoid or something that is accessable through the pan. I do not know enough about Chrysler transmissions to help you, sorry...I won't work on that junk.

For that cheap you should go with an import, like AMD & NutBucket suggested. Pretty much any Toyota/Honda/Nissan with as much as 150/200k miles can still be considered reliable. And get something w/ a manual tranny.

I just picked up an 89 galant for 700 and it rides fine, and is reliable.

120k miles.... not a bad deal.
