1680x1050

Not all games automatically compile a list of resolutions reported to them by Windows. In many cases you need to use shortcuts, console commands and/or config changes to do it.

flashpoint works perfectly at 1680x1050
as does HL2 and UT2004

search "widescreen gaming forum" in google and all your questions will be answered.

nice screen BTW. 😀

I dont believe every game supports widescreen either.

Few do. The battlefield series can be configured (through backdoor methods) to do any resolution.

Some multiplayer games consider that a cheat and may boot you. Single player should work fine.

If the game offers native widescreen support I dont think it will be considered a cheat though.

I've never encountered this?

What game are you thinking of?

Certainly not battlefield.

I think the multiplayer ban issue is actually due to FOV adjustments, but you'll probably want to increase the FOV for widescreens or it will look weird.

Does UT2004 support any resolution by just editing the config file? People seem to say it does but I can't get it to work at 2048x1536; it just crashes the game when starting it up. (kind of strange since the original Unreal and games based on that engine work fine like this)

AFAIK, few games have proper FOV adjustment. I've never seen any indication that battlefield does (it seems to offer fine aspect ratios for 3d elements in widscreen, just wonky ratios for 2d interface elements.

I know for a fact that WoW, UT and HL2 support it. HL2 has greyed out the 1680x1050 option on me, WoW does not display this option. I have to use 1600x1050 which is close enough that I can barely tell but it causes more tearing than I would like.

Weird about HL2. I had no problems whatseover as soon as I hooked up my 2005FPW. It just worked. As someone else mentioned, did you install the 2005FPW driver? Might help.

> Did you install the monitor inf? That way Windows and games know what res your monitor can run?

Yes I did.

> "did you install the 2005FPW driver? "

It's not a 2005FPW but it might be worth a shot nontheless.

Thanks for the link cheesebert
