Guys. About that mod guide. When they wrote that they were assuming these cards were going to come with 12 pipes enabled.

According to Kristopher's info (link at top of this thread), the cards are actually coming with 16 pipes already enabled. So you don't need to do the part about flashing a new bios and unlocking pipes. All you need to do is overclock it.

High end AGP cards are gone. ATI isn't making the r520 in AGP. nvidia isn't making the 7800 series in AGP. If you want AGP you have to settle for the mediocre cards.

Its OOS at newegg but the price keeps going up. It was $215 a few minutes ago and now its $219.

You think they call it OOS to see how many people request an "auto-notify" and then release it again, creating their own shortage and increasing demand?

HE! HE!

Your dell not being able to overclock has nothing to do with being able to overclock a videocard. Any PC can overclock a videocard.

Is there any difference between a normal Sapphire X800GTO2 from newegg/chiefvalue, etc. and the one being sold by pagecomputers? Pagecomputers calls it a:

SAPPHIRE ATI X800GTO2 256M GDDR3 PCI- E DVI TV- OUT VGA LITE RETAIL

emphasis on the LITE. I would like to overclock to X850XT PE speeds, and don't want a "watered down" X800GTO2 with inferior RAM or something.

LITE version is the RETAIL packed version. There shouldnt be any difference but YMMV

ok, thanks.

Hmmmm, I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger....I've already got a 6800GT running at 6800 Ultra speeds. I wonder if this'll be a worthwhile upgrade? (mainly worried since the X800's don't have SM 3.0...I think)

AFAIK this is the case. As seen here, the retail version of this is called "lite retail" and runs about $15 more than the OEM. "Lite retail" generally means that you get a boring-looking box that doesn't include any bundle/promo software. It should have the regular retail warranty and cables.

Yeah 6800 Ultras and X800XT's are so mediocre...

Sapphire/VisionTek/BBA (Built By ATI) = same factory

Actual builder = lowest bidder that round. Could be any of those three, could be someone else.

back in stock at newegg...
but the price is now $219 for a $20 rise in price.
my guess is that they were probably never out of stock but suspended purchases after the rush in sales so that they could re-price.
but i'm a cynical guy.

Only if you can make a profit in selling your 6800GT is this wortwhile IMO

Funny, I've always sought out Sapphire myself.
I loved their "Ultimate" 9600 & 9800 cards.

I guess it just depends on preference. I had problems with a Sapphire 9800PRO previously, and most of the PC magazines I've read only ranked Sapphire as the 4th or 5th best vid card manufacturer, behind other brands like Asus or MSI.
