Interface speed is useless. SATA II is as much better as ATA/133 to ATA/100: not at all. I wish that there's single drive that reaches maximum throughput of 150MBps.

The Interface Speed benchmark is only ONE of 17 HDD benchmarks available at Tom's Hardware.com; under 'Choose benchmark' you have the option to choose which one of 17 benchmarks your interested in.

Yes, and on all others Raptors prevail over 7200rpm drives.

I bought a 74GB one a few days ago. The only coupon I could find was one that was good for the weekend of 12-14. So I don't think there are any 12% off coupons avaliable. But if there is one, I still have the 74GB drive in the shrink wrap and ready to return it for another one getting 12% off.

[at least] half an hour of your time [and trouble] is worth ~$12?

Picked one up at my local store - there were only two on the shelf, and it was the only one in the immediate area that carried them. Not a bad deal, especially considering I had an absurd amount of store credit to spend.

Yeah, you can combine it with any drive and it will still work.

Yeah, these drives are definitely loud. In my old PC I wouldn't have noticed but GPU and CPU coolers have advanced so much since the days of 80mm high-RPM blow dryers. Its by far the loudest thing in my case now...my 8800 GTS and 120mm CPU fan give off a slight hum while this drive goes anywhere from constant "chirping" to full-blown garbage disposal-mode.

Still, a hot deal considering its the retail version with no rebate from a B&M. I picked up the OEM X for this much after rebate for my new system build. Drives are really fast (1 is faster than my old DM9+ RAID 0 Array on a 3Ware 7000-2) and I may pick this one up for a RAID 0 array or 2nd drive for storage/video. Would save me the hassle of porting over my old RAID 0 and free up a valuable PCI slot as well.

Is that so Raptor fanboy? What about the Price/Performance Intex Benchmark?

That's all things being equal, which they are not.

The build quality of the Raptor is clearly superior to your typical 7200rpm drive and it is backed by a 5 year warranty. The Raptor's reliability according to storagereview is in the 90th percentile or better.

The Raptor is essentially a SCSI/enterprise chassis with a SATA interface. You are paying for the robust build in addition to the performance. To some, like me, that's important.
