The usual price of the OEM version is $230+

The Retail version is $300++ normally, newegg lists it at $309 currently. So you are saving over $100 on the retail version.

Decent. I have $50 in bb gift cards, might just do this.

I have a question though. Does bestbuy or compusa have any coupons for anymore off the purchase? I might be able to get compusa to pricematch as well.

ugh, very tempting, I'm glad I didn't get the 74GB version earlier...may pick this up

What's up with the clear cover anyway? Just a gimmick or it actually does something?

If anyone owns one of these, can you give us a report on the amount of noise it produces?
I bought one of the 74GB drives when they were on sale and I returned it the next day because it sounded like a rattlesnake under my desk.

Its weird, some people must have very insanely quiet computers. I have a 74gb raptor, and it is very quiet. I mean my computer is fairly quiet, so if it was loud I would hear it, but its quiet for me.

the window is just a gimmick... in reality it probably reduces the maximum heat transfer, and these things get warm...

For those thinking about window modding their Hard drive ... this is a much much better option.

It probably does. However, it seems the rest of the chassis has improved-over-standard cooling possibilities. Looking at the picture, I see some cooling fins around the edge. It might work just fine. And of course it's a gimmick, but if I were into clear cases I'd appreciate the availability of this.
For me, it's P180B ftw. No window, thanks very much.

Good deal OP.

Yeah, I got two for RAID0, and they are loud beyond imagination.

Got one on backorder for delivery by Feb 5th. Unfortunately sales tax adds back 18 bucks for me. Damn tax man.

Anyone know when and if there will be a SATA II version of the 10,000 RPM Raptor? I own a Raptor (purchased when they first came out and before SATA II HDDs were available) and me thinks they are WAY overpriced but evidently there are no shortage of yokals willing to pay twice what there worth even on sale! You might checkout Tom's Hardware HDD Benchmark Charts first and save yourself a lot of money.

Interface speed is useless. SATA II is as much better as ATA/133 to ATA/100: not at all. I wish that there's single drive that reaches maximum throughput of 150MBps.

The Interface Speed benchmark is only ONE of 17 HDD benchmarks available at Tom's Hardware.com; under 'Choose benchmark' you have the option to choose which one of 17 benchmarks your interested in.
