It seems that I post too much. :hmm:

....I still blame the vbulletin switch for doing funny things with that post count, though. :colbert:

Found this place while at Sharkey Extreme during the WMC debacle. Was for the Hot Deals section.

I was not visiting much when the forum "updated" in Oct (?) '99, lost my acct. Have had two since then, the first forgotten by inactivity. This one, a noob acct., sadly. Worse yet, the change in members has been rather drastic.

C'est la vie.

I've been here much longer than my join time since I was here before the reset of 1999 of the site. I just forgot to register in a timely manner after it happened. I started coming to this site in either 97 or 98. Basically shortly after it started up. So 17-18 years here for me. Sheesh.

EDIT Yep, was 1997 for me. Just after I joined the Air Force back then. Late 97 which I think was Nov after I got done with training. So Nov will mark 18 years for me here then.

I didn't post much back then and came here to figure out how to put my first computer together on my own and how to overclock.

IIRC, we used the switch to delete about 32,000 of your worst posts. ;) :p

17 years here. It doesn't really seem like yesterday. In fact, I can't remember yesterday.

I was a trader back then, before heatware existed. Even when it first started, many of us didn't bother to register the majority of our trades the there. It wasn't the institution it is now. I all but ignored OT. My main forum was the legendary AGN.

AGN fo' evah! :awe:

Unless you joined AT on dial up internet, you'll always be a noob to us.

I was rocking a blazing Packard Bell with a 233mhz Pentium w/MMX baby! 24megs of ram with a 33.6kbps internal modem.

Yeah, I wasn't here then, but was rocking a PB wiith a 14.4 on CompuServe once upon a time :)

If you had a Pentium when you joined AT, Do0d, you're a noob, noob.

Hell, you didn't even have the first, giant, 60mhz "whole house warmer" Pentium. :p

I was a lurker too for awhile before I signed up here. Used to be a stomped.com regular. This became my regular site when they shut down. For some posters here that was literally a lifetime ago. Probably the first 3K of my posts where dedicated to cpu, gpu, and epic vs id holy wars. Cant believe I looked forward to those threads.

WHAT DOES MINE SAY?

oh

LOL, what's also funny is it won't be long that many people won't get this reference anymore. If not already.

9 D:

Going through my post history, you can literally see me grow up.

Can't quite say this myself as it's only be not even 9 years for me, and I was already in university by the time I discovered this forum.

What really did make me pause was when Anand himself retired from the site, and the fact that it was most likely due to the fact that PC components (the reason myself and probably most of us came here in the first place) are largely becoming stagnant and boring now.

I have learned a lot though and have also made some actual friendships from here :) And the nonsense in my sig is an example of one of the highlights :p

I first heard about this site back when Anand was on ZDTV talking about AMD's new CPU's. I think it was around the time of who was going to get to 1 Ghz first. Like many I was a lurker for a long while before I signed up here. I enjoyed reading others going back and forth over who's the best, Intel, AMD,ATI/AMD and NV too much. Stilll do. lol!

Funny to see the Internet old. I was young when I got online first. It got me laid, made some friends, wasted untold hours. The first thing I ever searched on I think Web Crawler ir some such was MST3K. Found anandtech not too many years later.
