Yeah, it's pretty insane. There should be a law against throwing a minor, especially a female, in a jail cell with men. I could only imagine what sort of torture she went through...hell...she's only 15. Who cares if she even stole a car...committing a nonviolent crime only to become a victim of a violent crime. :(

Rather dangerous men, and more then 1 man. There are women just as dangerous in female prisons. But your point holds: Each person should really have their own cell, but... money and space of course are issues.

This is horrible. I hope those cops end up in a cell with 100 men.

It's Brazil...the prosecutor will probably get whacked along with the girl and her family.

Shit happens.

you're an idiot.

How do you figure? She fucked up, and she paid the price. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's any kind of deserved punishment, but I'm sure she'll think twice before breaking the law a second time. A little slap of harsh reality.

Be more specific, wise and beautiful woman. The article never said she was innocent, only that she was a suspect (and generally suspects aren't thrown in jail without decent reason).

Loke, I hope that if you get thrown in jail...you "pay(recieve)" the price too.

I assume your decades of work on the Brazilian legal system is what allows you to make this statement? I grew up in South America, and while I love the area, the legal system tends to be corrupt. It said that the girl came from a poor family, which means that it would be very easy to land her in jail without much evidence.

You're either trolling, or mind-numbingly stupid. You do not PUNISH suspects until they are CONVICTED, and rape is NOT a valid punishment.

I'll tell you what, when you're considered a "suspect" by a corrupt legal system and get raped for a month by twenty convicts, possibly ending up with AIDS and god knows what else, come back here and let us know if it was an "oh well, shit happens!" kind of moment or the fucking tragedy the rest of see it as.
