Well, the reason I wanted Gentoo is the whole emerge function. Is there something similar to that with OpenBSD?
Try Debian then! Got it installed in 15 minutes, 20 minutes later I was up and running with X and everything else I needed.
apt-get is much better then emerge IMO.

It takes care of dependencies just fine. It also provides easy update. But it treats all 3rd party applications as part of the base system, and that's my major complaint about it.
