You guys are slow.

But correct, your number looks a bit high. ;)

Try again there skippy ;)

(5280 / 3250) * 142 == 230.69538461538461538461538461538

Agree to disagree
;)

3280, not 3250

Thats weird... isn't a meter 39inches?

( 39 * 1000 ) / 12 == 3250

interesting

My basis was 39 inches. :eek:

it's a metre...

The Honda Civic had been customized with racing accessories including a special engine, seatbelt and car doors that lifted up, Klare said. Champ told police he had plans to race the car at Portland International Raceway.

Riiight, all those race cars have scissor style doors. I hope they impose the maximum fine on this kid so he can't buy any more retarded car parts.

My first car ('90 Ford Tempo) was not much better...

My Topaz is geared for almost 260kmh, but at my current power level, it'd probably top out around 230.

230 is pretty fast though.

I guess I had the base "teh suck" model, lol. Speedometer topped out at 85, and it took forever to get there. :p

Yeah, I had a 4cyl automatic Topaz too. Speedo went up to 200kmh, and I had it up to 185. Smooth as butter at that speed.... thanks to the Michelin X-One tires though ;)
It took so long to get going that fast, I could have written an essay in the meantime ;)

Heh...on to bigger and better things for me now though. :p

Supercharged V6 will do just fine. :gift:

(I don't really need any speeding tickets anyway...:roll: )

"Geared for" speed isn't even relevant on many cars anymore. I once calculated the speed of a Camero topped out in 6th, it was something like 240MPH. My truck is "geared for" 145MPH in 4th, and 202 in 5th. Even if I used the "key trick" to disable the speed limiter I'd only hit 125MPH before drag holds it back. About the same as my '91 Grand Prix did with about 85 less HP, bricks need alot more power to go high speeds. The computer says "What the hell are you thinking?" at about 115MPH.

Of the 3 times I've hit the 192kmh/120mph governor, it kept on pulling well, so I guesstimate it could do 230. Maybe it can't, I dunno, and my speedo ends at 200 anyhow. My car isn't an arrow, but it's no brick either. Turning off the governor for me is as simple as unplugging the Vehicle Speed Sensor.

That's effectively what the "key trick" does. I don't know who had the balls to try this one out first, but here's how it works. (atleast on Gen 3 Dodge Dakotas...) When the key is turned to the start position, the computer ignores a number of sensors, the speed sensor is one of them. When not in park or neutral (auto), or when the clutch is not pressed down (manual), the starter will not engage. So turning the key will allow you to accelerate through the speed limiter. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the downside/upside to this.

There...

I see you finally came around. :p

I'd rather get to the bottom of why I was off then let some program calculate it all for me and never know.

Good point. :beer:

I must say I was surprised by the link you posted earlier, listing so many different definitions of a meter. :confused:

1990 Dodge Dayton Turbo - 150 Mph.

1987 Pontiac Transam 305 TPI - 138 Mph (ran out of road).

Young and dumb. Surprised I didn't get killed.

I was in a friend's car going about 135 on the motorway in England (speed limit 70). He had it over 110 on the on-ramp.

It's pretty scary going twice as fast as everyone else, if anyone pulls out in front of you you're all fvcked. Plus getting caught at that speed would suck.

I grew up in the country and there was like one cop for 30 square miles. I was always tearing around in my transam. I was constantly outrunning that poor guy. Many times I passed him going 90-100mph and by the time he turned around I was GONE. Long straight country roads are awesome to be screaming down. Like I said young and dumb.

That was before they invented "radio", right?
