4-5 stores opening every week in 2012 is pretty insane. They're actually planning on putting a new one in not far from me and it hasn't even broken ground yet but won't be open until 2017 iirc.

No, that was ITEM 2 on the list, not "2.35"

Item 2 says that 35 million people shop at Walmart every day, as much as the population of Canada, eh.

I'm one of the lucky 10%. Closest walmart is 29 minutes away. Two targets and a costco within 10-15 minutes though...

4-5 new stores opened every single week! Wow.

Once the off shoring of jobs is complete, Americans everywhere will be free to become part of the Wal Mart family. Then all Americans everywhere will truly be united as one. :'(

Haha, good one. :D

35 million is a lot of peeps though.

KT

That's like NY and LA put together, with some Chicago thrown in.

If we moved the border north a hundred miles Canada would have six people left, all hairy men with beer breath.

Edit: bananas... they're counting individual bananas? I wonder if they count individual cans of soda, or individual marshmallows. Something about that stat smells.

Ahhhhhhh, it all makes sense now. I see all those "people of Walmart" photos and think, "we don't have idiots like that around here." I'm among the 10% of people who doesn't have a Walmart within 15 minutes or even 15 miles.

They sold more more UNITS (pounds) of bananas than any other item in the store.

24pack of coke is 1 unit of 1 24-pack of coke. A unit of 6pack of coke does not count towards that same stat.

Bananas are bananas, but apples are jonagold, jazz, grannysmith, etc.

I thought ATOT had a better understanding of retail stats. Guess not.

I live within 15 minutes of 3 Wal-Mart supercenters.

I live in the center of Salt Lake Valley (about 15 minutes south of down town Salt Lake City) and I live within 15 minutes of at least 14 wal marts. Half of which are probably supercenters. This is 14 wal marts in an area that is about 6 miles wide and 20 miles long.

Every Walmart has 15 checkout lines but only 2 are open at time.
Depends on the time of day or night. At the nearby Supercenter, I've seen every checkout lane open and backed up five deep on a Saturday afternoon.

But I'm more likely to go grocery shopping at 3 or 4 AM, since we have the Walmarts and a couple of other grocery stores open 24 hrs. At 4 AM, nearly always, the guy manning the one checkout lane at Walmart is a really nice fellow, but he has just one arm.

everyone should grow their own bananas. That would really be sticking it to the walton family. They would end up being only as rich as bill gates and warren buffett combined. I would feel sorry for them then.
