Man, those .22s are on a roll lately. Ban .22s right now!

Who said anything about banning?

I'm saying that the people into the guns are morons. Who gives their kid a .22 rifle and then apparently allows him easy access to it, as easy as like getting an umbrella?

I have considered owning a gun, but I'd keep it in a safe far out of reach, and I'd have the only key on myself at all times.

come on, quit the trolling. people who don't follow gun safety are morons, not all gun owners.

Clearly the kid is dysfunctional in the first place, you agree with that, correct? If so, wouldn't the anger that drove him to this been unavoidable? Another form of a weapon chosen? I'm sure the family has kitchen knives as well.

This kid would have done something with anything he could get his hands on, baseball bat, knife, crowbar, etc.

I've yet to hear of a case where someone stabs someone to death while a gun is within the household.

I think it was the CoD that did it. Young kids should not be playing that game. It is training them to be killers and completely desensitized to it.

I have an idea.

Congress passes a new law, requiring that the Vatican station priests at all gun stores. Before a gun can be purchased the priest will conduct an excorcism, and certify that it is 100% devil free.

There is no hope for this kid. Just go ahead and get rid of him before he does something like this to someone else (not kidding).

love how the article tries to place blame on video games in the headline..

this kid was a ticking time bomb and his parents seemed to know it too yet still thought it was a good idea to have an easily accessible loaded gun around him

That is so messed up. Don't even know what to say.

I don't know what a 13 year old was doing with having access to a gun but that's another story. Sounds like he's phsyco and he would have probably just taken a knife to her anyway.

I don't know what's worse, people who set kittens on fire or this. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

🙁 .......

this is something you say on a rap album and it gets edited out by the department of justice. holy shit... this is as scary as it gets!

Violent video games desensitize certain kids. Kids who might be much more likely than the average kid to become violent or sociopaths even without the games.

I would say the vast majority of kids see violent games as just a competitive fun thing and don't associate on screen violence with actual killing.
I remember people making a big deal about the games I played when I was younger than that age, games like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. I never felt like going around and killing people. And anyone who might argue that the "realism" of todays games makes them more potent, I would disagree. Graphics might add to atmosphere, but in FPS' your mainly looking for quick scoring ("kills"), not performing sadistic raping or desecration of loved ones.

If her mom would have had a handgun, this attempted rape/murder by her son would have never happened.

Considering that she bought an 11 year old boy a rifle capable of killing people, she probably owned a handgun.

Now, if she had a handgun in the kitchen cabinet and not somewhere else in the house, she might have shot him first. So really, the answer is MOAR GUNS.

Buy a .22 for an 11 year old? WTF really? And he wanted to rape her during his rage for being cut off from CoD? LOL that's just too messed up to even contemplate.
