Abortion is such a selfish act. If, by the third trimester, a woman still wants to abort the baby, I say she should be sterilized following the abortion procedure.

Why should she be punished for correcting a mistake?
Let's be honest here. Women have abortions because they don't want the baby. Its that simple and I think a lot right-to-lifers don't recognize that. Personally, I think abortions are a sign of a failure of personal responsibility and are morally reprehensible. But I don't think society should force a woman to have a baby she doesn't want. Bringing an unwanted baby into this world is far worse than aborting it in the womb. Just my humble opinion.

If she didn't want the baby, she had almost 6 other months in which to abort, why should she be allowed a third trimester abortion, where the baby might actually be able to survive?
I think women should be allowed to have abortions, up to a point. If they don't want the baby, they have plenty of chance to abort, and they should learn about contraception anyway (people who are willing to have abortions will (should) be willing to use contraceptives).
If a baby is a serious health risk to the mother, later abortions should be permissable (ie: it might kill the mother to have the baby), or in some circumstances, if the baby is deformed/disabled/seriously hindered in some way then it may also be permissable to have a late abortion (depending on when the condition can be picked up).
If a mother doesn't want the baby, and it is late in the gestation period, then she should be offered support, like ideas for adoption or other options available.
