Outpost.com has the 128 MB Lexar compact flash card (4x) for $39.95. Shipping is as low as $5.95.

compactflash

smartmedia

Not sure if this is a good card, but beats the Mr. Flash price of $46 +$6 shipping at newegg. that price is for the compactflash.

props to jplee3 for finding the speed.

Great deal, thanks. Just ordered the smartmedia. I have used the Lexar 64mb smartmedia for quite a while and it is great. Can't speak for the Compact Flash but I would assume that it is the same great quality.

Lowest shipping is $5.95 for 2nd day. Ordered 5 to lower shipping cost. I'll share with my friends. They all asked me about it. But should I order them before I get my S200? Bump for this great find. Thanks a lot.

Anyone know the speed of this CF card; 4X, 8X, 12X, the product description doesn't say and the photo is fuzzy?

so if it is a 2x CF card does that mean it is slow storing pictures???

CFs go up to 16x, today. Many reasonably priced ones are 8x.
Your camera never reach even 16x: I don't know those details, you'd have to check technical reviews of your camera.
There's a "law of diminishing returns" at some point -- as with CD-RW's: 1024x wouldn't show much improvement over 16x. But... I expect one would notice the difference between 2x and 16x.
Think of what you're buying it for: if it's for fast, frequent shooting (like a wedding) a slow write-speed may bother you. If you're taking single landscape shots on vacation, you might never notice the speed until you download the pix to your computer (and who cares then?). And if it's as a backup for when you overflow another CF, you aren't going to use it all the time so you may be able to tolerate its speed,

sorry..I have no idea if this is a 2x card..but if it is last thing I would want is slow the write speed of my camera....

I also want ot say I did not mean this was not a great deal but a 2x card is not...sorry for being vague

I agree, I don't want to have a slow memory card slowing down my digital camera either.

Once I get mine, I'll let you guys know.

ahhhh tempting - it looks like this might just be the 2x... i found two other links to different lexar media with 4x and 10x here and here - it looks like they have the USB/Jumpshot capability. don't they integrate usb/jumpshot into all their cards that are 4x or faster?

i think the speed of the card wouldn't matter so much on lower megapixel cameras (under 2 megapixels) but in 2-4 megapixel cameras with higher resolutions and larger file size, the speed of the card matters greatly, as you're writing huge files.

Aha....here ya go: :D

Lexar media photos

If the Outpost pic is accurate, it's a 12X (yellow on the right and black on left, according to Lexarmedia's site)

The Smartmedia cards, however appear to only be one speed?

edit: actually, it's a bit confusing. outpost's 160MB 10X CF card looks like the 16X-24X CF cards on Lexarmedia's site.

Probably best to just wait and see :)

I went for it...

ground shipping was calculated up to $5.31 for some strange reason and 2 day was the same $5.95

It seems that there's a 12X written on the card if it's 12X. The one in Outpost does not have any. Any ideas??

How long will this deal last??

i called them also - it looks like they've been getting quite a few calls because the first thing the CSR asked was if i was looking for the "speed"... : / - he told me he didn't know and to try back Monday or to check with Lexar. the only problem is that he didn't give me lexar's manufacturer sku nor is it listed under the product description... hmmm, has anybody else been able to find out what the lexars manufacturer sku is ???

OHH! just called Lexar (since the Outpost CSR told me to) and the Lexar CSR confirmed that this card IS a 4x CF Card!!! i just placed the order... decent price for something faster than 2x!

btw: hey... you could probably do an AMEX PM on this huh??? buy it for 60-70$ elsewhere and PM it to the 39$ price... i guess that's a very small amt for PMing though, but you could give it a try anyway (since BVG will be gone for good soon).

Now you know why AMEX is stopping the program!!!
