As I understand it, she never replied to him at all on this matter. He simply saw her statement about not going home for xmas on her blog, and bought the ticket out of the blue. She has no responsibility for the money she didn't ask him to spend. Of course, this guy is deranged and probably won't see it that way.

Yes, but I think he could care less, to be honest. He's gone from Dec. 10 to Jan. 7 and doesn't seem overly concerned about what I do while he's gone. *sigh* I took him out for his birthday dinner yesterday... we ate here. I believe it's possible to get an itinerary before actually purchasing the flight. So unless the email he sent has confirmation codes on it, he may not have bought it yet. And even if he has, you aren't obligated to use it, because you certainly did not ask him to purchase it.
