I'm wall mounting a system and trying to keep everything really quiet, so I figure 120mm case fans are the way to go. I've usually just gotten cheapos, but this time i want to do it right. What are the best 120mm fans in terms of CFM to noise ratio? I also dont want to pay an arm and a leg... help would be great thanks :p

Those TTs are ok, but iirc they're pretty loud. I guess a fan controller would work.

I posted a thread a couple weeks ago. You can get Nexus fans for 8$ or less. Nexus gets their fans from Yate Loon. So, save money get the Yate Loon. Here is a place you can get them for decent price. Look on your typical coupons websites to grab 10% off coupon codes etc.

http://www.isellsurplus.com/pr...=8656&C=6&S=-1

www.compgeeks.com used to have them, but they are OOS now. I bought mine from compgeeks.

You probably can find other places to find these fans. They are the Yate Loon D12SL12

Do not get TT under any circumstances. They must test there fans at 20Yards away. Their specs are always off.

I would adivse a Panaflo, Nexus, or Acoustifan. Those are the top 3 out there.

I dont believe that's true. My TT 120mm fans (stock in the Tsunami) are quieter than my Zalman CNPS. When i turn my Zalman all the way up (it usually is anyway) it is rated at 25db's, and when i turn it down about 30% ago i cannot really hear anything. So, i accually believe the 21 db rating on the fans, they must be lower than 25 db's (if the Zalman rating is correct), and are probably around 20-23 db's or so.

I would agree that the Tt fans are some of the best value around. I am ordering two A1926 for my case after many long hours of searching through product. Great price, great performance.

I have a thermaltake case with stock TT fans. They are 12 cm each for the front and back.

I'll tell you now. It's loud! I've had this case for probably two months now. Friends who walk into my room always ask "What is that loud noise". So if there is anything better dont waste ur money on TT. I heard nexus is good.

TT fans are not "horrible". The quality is just fine. Have you ever used them? With a fan controller you can make these pretty quiet and move some air to boot........

I like how isellsurplus.com price gouges the street prices. Most of the fans they sell have a street price of 25+ dollars. Prices aren't bad, but that's just stupid.

Yes they are horrible. Head over to SilentPCReview.com. They have never recommended a TT PSU or product for that matter.

TT has poor quality, Small HS's, small capacitors, and noisy fans.

Yes i have owned TT multiple times.

What basis do you have for this statement. When one of the most trusted reviewer/enthusiast sights on the internet reviews a product badly, most likely it is bad. However this is not only one sight rating it bad.... many sights have rated it bad.

Kevin,

The basis is that I have been using mine problem free and quietly for quite a while now, I don't need to read any review site, even a "trusted site" (what an oxymoron). They are warrantied to boot. I am content..........

Good you are content, but thats not all that matters.

However the fact remains that they are poor quality, and loud, (In PSU's case) small HS's and capacitors).

Not talking PSU's here, talking about a 120mm fan. For $8 shipped I could care less, they are doing a great job for me, that's all that matters. I ain't buyig into those $25 fans...what a scam. Fact is, there is alot of real world noise that nullifies these quiet fans unless you compute in a vacuum....

Oh yeah, and again, they are NOT poor quality and they are quiet when slowed down....50,000 MTBF, warrantied....

that's a poor argument. You could say a Sunon fan is quiet with a fan contoller too right?

ppl who say like Vantec and Thermaltake make quiet products are just ppl who are used to having loud things in their case anyways. sure they can be quieter, but they're not in the same league as like a Nexus fan.

The question is, have you used a YateLoon Sleeve bearing Low speed 120mm? Or a Nexus? :D
I once though that 32db was quiet, now 25 decibles is too loud. The story is, you only realize how loud your quiet fan is when you hear (can't hear) a quieter fan.

With a fan controller the TT is not 32db. You can barely hear it. Have you used a TT 120mm Tiamat?
