I like this video, it makes a lot of fun points about the wrong hotheadedness of some liberals.

The only thing I take issue with is that I don't know why diversity is so disliked; Part of my research is looking at cognitive diversity in the work-group setting and I can assure you it can be very positive.

It seems like the point of that video is that conservatives don't understand the separation of church and state, hate Islam, hate diversity, and hate tolerance of others. So you're finally admitting it?

What both sides get wrong is that there are different levels of diversity.

Diversity of race, religion and sexuality are all okay, so long as we share a common culture. The minute the cultures in one country become diverse, the country fractures.

And we've been wtinessing that happen. The people who reject the mainstream cuture end up in poverty or worse, then blame everyone else for their problems.

You can have a lot of diversity, but we MUST share a common culture.

The literature shows us that when people disagree intellectually there is a positive outcome; when they disagree emotionally they simply look for things that further support their position.

Yes.

With caramelized onions and a rich, delicious demi'glace.

lol, you do know that Christmas is essentially a celebration of the winter solstice, repurposed by the Roman Church, right?

LOL, that didn't take long. You forgot to say it was originally a pagan ritual. We have multiple discussions on this particular issue every year and how it came about.

You know oklahoma means "red people".

new topic:
The smallest amount of education makes people feel like they know everything and thus think they will 'blow your mind' with their scrap of common knowledge.

I didn't say it's a pagan ritual because I think there is much less evidence to support that, though I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. There doesn't seem to be much doubt that the early Church placed holidays on dates of solar significance. So probably, "repurposed" was the wrong term, but the selection of the date, at least, seems clearly more related to the sun than the son.

Actually, it seems to be that people who ban nativities in public areas are the ones who don't understand the separation of church and state.

A judge hanging the 10 Commandments in his office does not constitute a state-sponsored religion. Neither does a nativity at an elementary school or in front of a courthouse.

The fundamental premise behind "freedom of religion" is that you should not need to be slapped in the face with my beliefs (or lack thereof), just as I should not need to be slapped in the face with your beliefs (or lack thereof).

A piece of art (a nativity, the last supper, the roof of the Sistine Chapel) or a fundamental moral code (the 10 Commandments) do not by themselves constitute a breach of that freedom or the establishment of a state-sponsored religion.

You are not guaranteed a freedom FROM religion any more than I am guaranteed a freedom from the stupidity of the liberal adjenda.

Those things constitute state endorsement of religion, which is illegal in this country, not to mention unethical.

A judge is fully allowed to have 10 commandments in his office, it's once they are put in the front atrium of a court room that they're a state sponsorship of religion. You try and call it art, but just two weeks ago we had Republicans wanting to revoke any form of public funding from a museum because because an art exhibit had some anti-Christian art! Yet you and I'm sure many of those same Republicans think that pro-Christian "art" should be allowed displayed in places like public schools and courthouses! Hypocrisy much?

Next time I see a nativity scene on public property, I'm gonna petition to allow my religious "artwork" to be displayed next to it. I'm thinking Jesus, Mohammad, and Satan in a Human Centipede pose will work nicely.

Are you that guy that on New Years Eve in 1999 was going around saying "well you know technically the new millennium doesn't start until 2001"

That seems to be more creative and artistic than an ordinary nativity scene manufactured in China and sold at Wal-Mart.

Ah the annual War against Christmas Bull Shit the Wingnuts pull up every season. It's almost a tradition, kind of like the Yule Log and Xmas Tree.
