Well there's the problem. You need to get the 'rents involved in making sure he knows how to do it.

My son is 11 and I have been working on him to take the trash out. He always bitches he cant get the bag out of the can, and I say dont wait for it to fill so full then.

I think this goes past "not getting out much" to "just plain stupid". Or he was just trying to avoid taking out the trash and then just wanted to make it as hard for you as possible.

I couldn't tie my own shoes properly until I was like 12. But I could tie a knot. All it takes it trying to tie a shoelace and doing it wrong!

Heck, you have to make half a knot in order to start a shoelace bow. Just do it twice.
