We interrupt this programming with an important announcement:

My MacBook Air arrived, and it is tiny, and awesome, and all mine, and kickass!

So, they will accept a return on your $1000 laptop because you didn't consider the low amount of hard drive space?

Is there a restock fee since you opened it and used it?

There is a 10% restocking fee, and I won't be returning it. I was fully aware of what I was getting.

Nice contribution.

OP, were you able to determine if it could playback 1080p MKVs and at what bitrate?

Yes, it was a 1080P mkv, don't have it avail to me right now to check bit rate though.

Played perfectly fine.

FedEx shows my "new" on as delivered! Can't wait to get home and get it set up.

No restocking fee's.

I bought it from Amazon.

But Apple did away with restock fee's also, or at least I thought I read they did so a little while ago.

Same. Right when I had my mind all set on the 13" MBA with 4GB ram, news of that comes out. Guess I'll be waiting till then.

my mind is still set on teh 13" w/ 4gb, but now I'll wait until the new model so AMZ can blow out their old stock.

Congrats guys, on the new MBA's :D

I have an Asus EEPC netbook that is craptastic by comparison, and I might get an MBA in the future to replace it.

11" Air with 4GB RAM and 64GB SSD is on order... this week is going to crawl by.

my co-worker isn't a big Apple fan, but he got his wife the new air with those specs he said it's quite the little machine. he's going to bring it in next week, I can't wait to check it out.

Wow, I don't spend over $500 on a laptop. These Macs are way outta my price range.

Well, just based on history, I haven't spent less than $1000 on a laptop yet. The first one has been going for 4.5 years, and is still doing good work. The new one will hopefully last a good long while as well.

Not saying that a $500 laptop won't do the same, but for me, ugh. But hey, if they work for you, cool.

Yeah the most I've ever spent on a laptop was $750 and that was 4 yrs ago.
Thats when the core2duo first appeared.
Some guy that a HP on CL and it was selling for $1400+ at the time.
It was a hell of a deal and still running like a champ now.
So I spent close to $1K for a MBA that resemble a "netbook".
Loved it.

the touchpad of any macbook made 2008 and on just destroys *.pc laptop.

i'd rather use a 2007 macbook air touch pad than a 2011 sandy bridge windows 7 touchpad.

apple just got it right - everyone = fail. probably just all synaptics

I am coming from a 6 year old PowerBook, it has a trackpad smaller than a postit note with no 2 finger scrolling... and now I have the pure sex glass trackpad on the Air. I am in hog heaven.

It spoils you beyond belief. why i have magic trackpad on my imac and mac pro ;) lovin' it.

magic trackpad on win7 = hatin' it

What about the Magsafe connector and the magnetic locking mechanism (when the laptop is closed).

More and more PCs are getting the magnetic latch. The MagSafe is still Apple only, and I would add the solid feel of all of Apple's laptops to the list of best features.
