Actually the specs arent better. The 2001FP is 1600x1200. The 2005WFP is 1680x1050. The 2001FP gives you more screen for less money!

YEAH BOY! My workplace bought a new computer for me with one of these 2001FPs a month ago. It has never been so easy to stay at work. Windows at 1600x1200 is very nice, it feels like 1280x1024. I swear I'm going to flush the CRTs into the sewer and going to two of these badboys baby at home. Come to me my darlings....
For those of you on the edge, the thing I like the most is that you don't feel as though your getting a suntan when you sit in front of one of these all day. I swear when I worked on a 21" CRT, I would leave work after 12 hours feeling like my eyes were at a tanning salon. It was ridiculous.
To those of you who have yours set up already - ANANDTECH NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD BABY!!!!!
Is there a code for free shipping? or was that 11/05 only?

Widescreen usually costs more though.

Personally, I'd wait till black friday, a widescreen 2005fp is likely to drive the 2001fp's price down. I'm wiating for $500-550 shipped.

I ordered on 11/04/04 with a ship date of 11/22/04.I emailed Dell and told them I was not happy about waiting 3 weeks and they emailed back and said they would ship by next day with no extra charges. Now this is 11 days sooner and I can't wait. 🙂

I emailed Dell but they aren't shipping it out earlier. Instead, they said mine will now be shipping out on the 30th!!! Grrr. As a consolation, they gave me a nice cash back coupon for my next order. I guess I'm just gonna have to be patient.

I ordered through Home sometime in the afternoon. I didn't receive an email notification, but when I check the order status through the Dell webpage it says that the monitor has shipped. Good luck.

JP,I used voice chat with Dell @ 10:30 est 11/15/04 to get a tracking #.They did not send UPS as stated,sent by DHL.

Yup 🙂 Attached it to the DVI-D port on my 6800GT and the picture is amazing. Played through about 2 hours of HL2 last night and didn't notice any ghosting. While my fps were dropping into the 30s every once in awhile in the more intensive areas, it didn't really bother me that much.

Good luck and let me know what you think of yours once you get it in.

DHL finally delivered mine today. This is a beautiful monitor. I still need to tweak the color and brightness settings to get it looking just right. I did some light gaming on it and have mixed feelings about it. Half Life 2 looks great, but I don't like UT2004 as much on it. I think probably because UT is much faster, so I think I'll stick with my crt for that game.

Out of curiosity, what custom color/brightness settings are you guys using?

Can you elaborate on what exactly you didn't like about playing UT2004 on the monitor? I have one coming myself (in theory, if Dell ever ships it), and I play UT2004 quite a bit....
