10k steps 3x/week didn't lower my cholesterol

Even during that heavy training schedule, with a clean diet, her cardiologist said she should be on a statin.
My doc wanted to put me on a statin and I said, wait, let me try to solve the problem dietarily. He said OK, we'll retest you in 3 months to see where you are. I cut out some stuff... i.e. no butter, little if any cheese, probably reduced fatty meats. I have tested OK ever since, never taken a statin.
 
I never changed my diet but incorporated more plant material that were rich in sterols. I'll have porridge a few times a week, sometimes a snack at work of cut up vegetables, light greens sandwich, diet soda in the small cans. I've been doing this for about 9 years and my cholesterol levels have improved a lot.
