OOOHHHHH.... Just had to chime in with the "Mine arrived today"

Boy, I wish I had chosen the two day shipping. It would have been worth an extra 8 bucks to avoid Fedex Home. They are TERRIBLE about updating their tracking info. Up until 6am on the day it was delivered to Cincinnati Ohio the tracking page said "Left Sorting center in Sacramento CA" Bleh...

Normal Fedex is SO much better than whoever their subcontractor is for Fedex Home delivery. (the free shipping option) OH well, you get what you pay for in shipping at least... (grin)

On a much happier note, my refurb iPod is really not recognizeably a refurb at all and Media Center 9 is a wonderful thing to use instead of musicmatch sh*tbox. Basically, when you get yours run the setup on the disk and then hit cancel when it pops up the musicmatch install. Then go grab Media Center 9 and try out their demo. synchronizes playlists and just about everything else FAST like having itunes on the mac...

fun fun!

The company is expected to launch the long-awaited Windows version of the iTunes Music Store at the event, according to Wall Street brokerage Needham. Apple earlier said it would release the Windows service sometime before the end of the year."

Isn't iTunes just an online music store, like emusic.com, where you download MP3s? How is it platform specific? Why can't a Windows client go to the web site now?

I think iTunes is also a MP3 ripper/player software, like the RealOne player, I guess. Probably integrated into the Apple online store nicely. Doesn't really pique my interest at all.

iTunes is a great jukebox program on mac, and I cant wait to see how well the windows version is. It rips, plays, transfers to iPod and is the music store. as to why the music store isnt avaible on pc? it uses AAC encoded files

FedEx guy was just here to bring me my Brand New iPOD. Seems to be in perfect shape and am already putting music on it and charging it!

Thanks. I'd never heard of AAC. I've decided to boycot Media Player after the 6GB of WMA files I ripped to my desktop were not playable when I switched to a laptop last month. So I've decided to go back to MP3 files since someone told me about VBR files (which I don't remember from years back). I'll have to check out the AAC format, too. I'm a stickler for quality, so hopefully this is a good alternative. Thanks again!

Ordered mine on 9/30 and got it on 10/8...came in great condition except that the battery doesn't seem to last more than a few hours, will have to try and bastardize it some more to see how long it lasts after a full charge!

DId you order the 15 gig version? Same problem here... I did notice that after it sits for a few days and I power it up that the battery seems to be dead on the display... but after 15 minutes of playing it returns to the previous charge level...

There is something funky about the battery gauge display. Mine keep going from normal to completely-empty every so often. The problem is that it doesn't change the display for 5 sec+, which is not very user-friendly and confusing. If when I looked at it, it shows empty, I usually stare at it a bit longer to see if it flashes back to full. I usually just ignore it, and mine does run about 8+ hrs. I think there are some tests you can run to test your battery life. Check iPodLounge for details. Someone said updating the firmware might help. I am still on 1.2.1. I guess you won't really know if the battery is running out until it is dead.

The clock on my 10gig 2nd gen didn't keep accurate time(that's what I have a watch for:D) until I downloaded the latest firmware. Now it works fine. Seems this download fixes some problems.

I ordered this past tuesday night and got it today (Friday). This thing is brand new I don't even think it was opened... In my rush I don't even have a firewire card though so I got a nice shiny white plastic thing just sitting here hehehe but it does look sweet and I can't wait to try it.

Anyone know if those burton AMP jackets are still available anywhere? they had a fabric remote for the ipod sewn into the sleeve so you could control your music with your big snowboarding gloves on

I read over on iPodLounge that Burton is coming out with a new jacket (the old one is no longer available).
