Some of that stuff is really nothing needed, but a few there that i would like.

But isnt breakout ONLY for the 3G ones and not the old 2G we are all getting? where did you find it on that page?

Makes me wonder if support will start failing for it.

Oh, can can someone post some pics/vids of their ipods? I am suprised no one has done so yet.. I am curious to see how they work.

The ones for sale on the site the original ones with the mechanical wheel, right?

Another thing.. does the current crop of the iTrip support these iPods? They have been through 3 generations now.. which generation is getting shipped? On the page it says "Prior to version with touch pad/remote/carying case". Does this mean everyone is getting the real old iPod from many years ago?

Hi all. I just got my iPod 10 gig second gen, and it seems to be brand new. It came shrink-wrapped in the original box and the iPod is in flawless condition. This is a steal if you can get it. Recommended.

I ordered on 9/30 and got it 10/6. No big deal there, had Apple got off it's butt and shipped it Thursday I'd of had it Friday.

Send me a digi cam, sure. :) I've already opened it, but I still have all the plastic wrap.

EDIT: A little description:

iPod box was shrinked wrapped, though it did have a sticker that reads "iPod Reconditioned" on it. Box appeared flawless; it had a little plastic seal that was a bit smaller than a quater keeping the two sections of the box together.

The iPod unit was wrapped in non-stick plastic, the same kind that you get on a cell phone LCD and peel off before use. The plastic reads "Don't steal music" in a number of languages on the front of the iPod. Hah! The iPod itself is unmarred, but I really won't make any distinctions either way. A dilligent person like myself could have kept it as clean as it is, but I dunno, it looks a little too good. Touch pads and buttons react perfectly, all seem to be in tip-top condition.

All supplemental parts were sealed in gray static-wrap plastic bags. These parts look flawless and I don't believe they're refurbished. They could have just thrown in new parts, I suppose. Again, if these are refurbished, I can't tell. I have not yet opened the headphones or the remote, so if I can borrow a digi-cam, I'll post pics.

The leather belt case came in a little drawstring mesh sack. Looks great.

Download the 1.3 Update and the program will give you 2 options: update or restore. Just connect your iPod to the PC via firewire and click update.

Damn - I finally decided to pull the trigger and they're out again. Hopefully there'll be another round. . .

Hey guys. Just checking this deal and have a question for those that ordered. The apple site says "Prior Version" for the 10GB pods. Does that mean its not current versions (2G that came out earlier this year)? Or am I missing something?

I got what is esentially a brand new, sealed in box 2G iPod. If it didn't have a refurb sticker you can't tell the difference. Who knows, maybe after all the complaints apple might have decided to ship out brand new ones instead of waiting for a bunch of returns. Even if I did get a used one, they've probably replaced enough parts for it to be considered brand new.

Seems Apple has dropped support for this model iPod, refusing to update the firmware to enable all the new functions of generation 3.

Seems like everyone is really mad, especially since a lot of them spend $400 just a year ago.

Shame on Apple.

I just received my ipod and here are pics. Link

Everything looks brand new as you can tell from these pics. There is not a single scratch on anything. I am charging as we speak so I can find out the battery life.

Iamshady:

Nice job on the pics--thanks for making the effort:cool:

Mine purchased way back when arrived the same way. I really think these are new. I hate it for those who got the scratched/dirty ones. Must have been sent by a disgruntled Apple employee on his last day.:frown:

I've had my finger on the trigger, but haven't pulled yet. Many of the opinions I have read of the ipod criticize it for its lack of sound quality. What does everyone think so far? How is the bass boost?

Slunk:

Personal opinion-

I liked the customizable sound features of the Zen but not enough to give up the iPod. For me--but hey I'm old;)--the difference was not great enough to choose the Zen over the iPod.

I mostly listen to lighter rock (Radiohead, Ween, REM, Tripping Daisy, Centro-matic, etc.), but I like that first Mega Bass setting on my Sony Discman. I guess I just need to go listen to an iPod.

I bought one of them Belkin FM transmitter doodat to use with my iPod. You can only select from 4 different frequencies to use with your radio (88.1, 88.3, 88.5, and 88.7). This doesn't work very well in SF Bay Area because they are occupied most of the time. If you happen to drive to an area that has strong radio signal on the same frequency as your Belkin transmitter, then you will get bad interferences. To get same quality as regular radio stations (i.e. same volumn on radio, but still able to hear your iPod), I had to crank iPod's volumn to about 95%-100%. The manual says the range is 10 feet, but I find if I place it on the passanger seat (below my antenna/signal block by chair), then I get some crackles and loses signals sometimes. Right now I stuck it above the sun-visor, and that works out well. It takes 2 AAA batteries with it's own on/off switch. Had it running for about 6 hrs now and still going. When it's not in use, you can wrap its own cord arount the unit. My problem with it is that, the cord is just long enough to be annoying, but too short to wrap around iPod, or itself during use. Maybe I need to try to Digiana thing someone else linked to in an earlier post.

np guys, thought I'd help out since I had no idea what I was getting either. I just started to get a chance to play around with it and it is a really nice MP3 player. I had the Creative Nomad Jukebox, which I sold off, and the recently retired Iriver iMP-350. The iMP-350 served me well, but I couldn't pass this up, and I'm glad I didn't :)
