We're all - of course - entitled to our opinions, but how, on earth, could you say FF9's ending was anti-climactic???????? I was almost in tears! IMHO, that was best ending in any game - ever.

But then again, FF8 is the only FF I've never finished (FF people....tall, like adults?!?! Blasphemy!), and you liked it...so I guess we're just different 😉
 
Dang, I am back at home for the weekend and am on dial-up...ugh..guess I gotta wait until sunday when I get back to my T3 connection...

ARG only 44 KB/Sec download on cable. :disgust: How come none of you are talking about Final Fantasy Tactics. I thought that was a pretty good game for not following the regular Final Fantasy style. I don't think I have ever beat a Final Fantasy game because when I get far enough something happens to my computer and I have to reformat. :frown: I don't think FF8 was that great because you have to steal your magic from enimies and it takes so long to reach maximum capacity.

Well I would at least like them to run around while fighting, and add location in fights into the mix. I havent played a new RPG in years, including BOTH Lunars (which are like 8 years old or whatever), where the entire party and group of monsters just sits there and takes turns attacking each other.

Ugh I HATED that! It almost killed the game for me! I mean you have these goofy little sprites that don't have much detail in them, forcing you to create your own image in your mind of what they might look like in person (which is what a good RPG should do - force you to imagine some parts), and then there the game goes showing Amano's crazy detailed artwork, which look nothing like the goofy little sprites in the game. Plus it doesn't help that I don't like Amano's work to beguin with 🙂

BTW, I thought 7 was the best FF yet, followed by Tactics, then 6 I guess.
 
Tactics was pretty cool 🙂 (I own it to 😉) It was a very different battle system (which I quite like, I loved Shining Force (and SF2 was pretty good also)) but it kind of lacked in story/character development.

FFV, VI (Athlogies), VII, VIII, IX, and Tactics are all in my collection.
I hope to add IV today (Chronicles).

Hopefully they will re-release I, II and III on PSX to 😉

i liked ff8. dunno why people complained about the new battle system and gf's. most reviews complain about the use of gf's, i think if they actually played the game, they would realize that gf's are useless later on. those sites make me think they really dont play the game they review all the way through 🙁
 
when I say that FF9 was anitclimactic, I mean the final boss. when I beat him I was like, wait .... it's over. That was far too easy. And I think FF9 ending wasn't near as emotional or climactic as 8 though. Well I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, now off to defeat Ozzie, Slash, and Flea.
