if you have a "prefect score" of 850, "In February 2005, TrueCredit will award anyone in America who has earned a score of 850 with $1,000 and a lifetime of free Credit Alerts to help them maintain their perfect score and guard against identity theft. You must achieve a score of 850 when you order TrueCredit?s score based on TransUnion data. " here is the Link.

That is definitely a quality promotion for them. I'm sure they would love to check your credit on the miniscual chance that you have a perfect 850.

Usually if you've been denied credit based on your credit score in the last 6 months, you're entitled to a free one. In some states, I believe you're entitled to a free one every year no matter what.

FreeCreditReport.com will give you a free report - but it costs money (like $2-5) to see a score.

The free report is only a trial too - you have to call and cancel. It's not too difficult to cancel it.

I wonder what it takes to hit the perfect 850 - mine is pretty high but I don't think it's 800+.

~710 here... mostly because of my low income and large ammount of student loans. When I start working this summer it should go up a lot.

doesn't the act of checking your credit lower your credit score?

thats an inquiry by someone else checking your credit since you want to apply for a CC/loan.

850 is virtually impossible...even with millionaires with 20 years of perfect credit.

The formula is such a combination of extreme factors in order to get 850. Anything above 770 is exceptional.

Not even 1?

Wow. So basically, it's impossible?

OK so if you have perfect credit at 850, well, by running a credit check to determine your credit score...wouldnt that drop your score?

so its impossible.

silly.

PSA: I would like to announce that I will be offering $1000 dollars to anybody who has a perfect bracket for the upcoming NCAA tournament in March.
