One Thousand Coffins

The 1000 Coffins procession is a serene observance parade of realistic symbolic caskets draped in the Flag -- to represent and honor each of our fallen soldiers and marines, and make a bold statement that the truth of their sacrifice cannot be censored.

Please join us today and commit to a "pall-bearing" team for Convention Week. Help honor a brave soldier or marine in a way our Administration would have us not do: by letting the reality of his or her sacrifice finally be seen on camera and felt by all.

Should be a site to see. Not too sure how Bush will see it, though. With the Dover Rule and such. ;)

Why they would think the republicans would care is beyond me. After all point of having it in New York City now, is to campaign on the memory of 9/11. I'm just suprised that Bush isn't giving his acceptance speech from Ground Zero

Also, I'm waiting for those members who denounced the airing of the pictures/names of all the fallen (I can't remember by whom, one of the late-nite news shows) to come in here and denounce this. ;)

If they liberals are disgusted by Bush not attending funerals as part of policy - shouldn't they be more disgusted by someone using them as a political anti-war symbol? Oh yah - liberals play by their own set of rules. It's called "nuance".

Saw an interview of bush on tv the other day. He said he has attended funerals, but has not publisized the events.

I don't know if I agree with it or not, but the idea itself is very clever and, if it gets coverage, will get their point across well.

I don't think it is playing politics with the dead soldiers. You can't hide from the reality of the situation that Bush created, and the fact is his decision did result in the loss of those lives. Whether or not you believe the loss was justified is another question.

I must be more ignorant than I thought. I never knew there was a policy for this. Or did you mean something else? (or is there really a policy for this?)

And another thing. I find it disgusting that people are more offended by people carrying empty coffins than the fact that this administration put real bodies in real coffins. That's ok. Servicemen should die for false causes I guess.

I dont think that is the case. There is a traveling press, but they do have to be invited to go along with him. Same with any president.

I see.

Still doesn't seem possible that he attended a funeral without the press knowing.

If Bush attended my wife's friends sons funeral we would have heard about it, and I am sure it would have made it into the press. Same for the few other acquaintences who lost sons too. Perhaps Bush didn't come to MA for their funerals because it is a Democratic state.

you dont think shrub is doing the same? you should watch his ads.

apparently if john kerry was president, b2 bombers wouldnt even exist, let alone in iraq.

they should not be holding the RNC in NYC, simply for logistical reasons, as Jon Stewart says "Thanks for making us even more of a target, really thank you!" to RNC chairman

I never said that. It is possible to condemn Group A's actions without automatically supporting Group B's. I know some zealots find this hard to believe, but it's true!

Gaarad, you assure the re-election of Bush by demonstrating. Its a difficult issue because it is your right to demonstrate. You people dont get it---This country is basically moderate-conservative---displays of discord, etc dont play well in Peoria. Kerry needs to win Peoria. The best thing you and the other people could do is demonstrate by staying away from New York City and voting for Kerry. Its not about the demonstrations--its about getting rid of this man who is among the worse presidents in our history.

So honoring our fallen means hiding their coffins from the public? Hmmm, not sure I understand that one.

I agree that this is pure politics. Unless you are a family member, I don't think you have the right to use them. I say this eventhough I won't be voting for Bush.
