100,000 push-ups for AT

I stole this idea from the guys over at Clutch Fitness. It's just a fun little game to see how long it takes us to reach a total of 10,000 push-ups.

The rules...
1) Do the push-ups BEFORE you post
2) Be honest - it's not a competition between anybody so there's no point
3) You MUST update the total in your post.

I'll go first

I did 40 push-ups

Total for AT - 40

EDIT - Total changed to 100,000!

Nice idea. I've been using the grease the groove approach to boost my numbers on push-ups and sit-ups and will probably add pull-ups and air squats later. I do them through out the day, so I'll post the total later tonight.

There any rules to taking a breather, or is it simultaneous push-ups before you quit? I'd drop and knock out 30 but I'm at work.

Doing multiple sets is fine. However, they shouldn't be spread throughout the day. They should still be part of the same session.

Uh, why?

I just figured we might meet 10,000 too quickly doing it that way taking the fun out of it. I could easily add 100's to the total every single day if I could do them all throughout the day, and so could other people here.

Maybe I could compromise though. Perhaps allowing people to post twice in one day instead of just once? That allows two separate sessions. This is how it was originally set up at Clutch Fitness anyway.

I guess if you're treating it as an actual competition with set-in-stone rules, then sure, limiting it to just one session makes sense. However, since you said "it's not a competition between anybody", I thought this was more of a personal challenge to get to 10,000 and rules like these would not be relevant. I guess if it makes it easier, I can mark my own posts with the fact that I'm doing a GTG approach, which means I'm spreading the push-ups over numerous (3-5) sessions through out the day.

I'm curious how long it'll take me posting only one continuous unbroken session per day, so that's how I'll do it, starting today after work.

I just meant that it's not meant to be a competition to see who can do the most push-ups. It's more of something to get many people to contribute consistently to one goal. I'll switch it to two sessions though.

EDIT - I also changed the title since I think people are getting the wrong idea. It's not meant to see how long it takes you as an individual to reach 10,000, but everybody as a whole. For example, if I do 40 and somebody else does 40, we would have a total of 80. The goal is to get this number to 10,000.

i disagree. reaching the final total is all the matters.

I do pushups constantly throughout the day, so I'll post in the afternoon and at night, with my numbers from throughout the day.

Did GTG push-ups today. 4 sets of 45 reps scattered through out the day for 180 total. No sit-ups today as I had GHD sit-ups as part of my CF WoD. Will probably start air squats + pull-ups next week.

Total - 459
