My update:
Today was the Pittsburgh Marathon. My goal was to hit as close to 6's as possible so that's what I set out to do.
The conditions were less than stellar. At the time of the gun it was 68 and overcast. By the third mile it had warmed up and was pouring. The rain continued throughout the entire race (obviously changing its intensity, but it was present for the entire time), and the temperature had to have been in the mid 70s by the time I finished.
Took out the first mile somewhat conservatively; 6:17. Came back with a 6:02 for the second. Three and four averaged to 5:55s (missed the 3rd mile mark) and I continued ~6:00 pace 'til mile 12, where the hill picked up (12-14 were the hill miles). Made it up averaging right around 6:20s, what I had planned to do. Through the half in 1:19:35. Dropped it back down to a 6:00 low for the first mile after the hill.
Problems began here. Got a side stitch - I had been taking a lot of water (about 4 oz/mile) since I was feeling like I was overheating and becoming dehydrated. Had to urge my body to do 6:45s and get through the cramp. After that I began to amp it up again...
Only for a mile or two though. Got to the 16 mile mark at 1:37:35 and was slowing down at this point. Feeling woozy and just completely out of it. After struggling through a few horrible miles I really had slowed it down and by mile 22 I was walking. I literally could've fallen asleep on the course... I was walking with my eyes closed, stumbling, going in and out of consciousness. Felt awful. But I didn't want to stop after getting so far.
"Walked" for 25 mins 57 seconds 'til about mile 23.5 or so, and at this point I finally began to start feeling good enough to run. Split my time at the 25 mi mark, and did the last 1.2 in 8:44, finishing in 3:03:05.
Pretty disappointed with the run, and wish I knew how I'd fare if the weather was a little more favorable. Should've changed my race plan accordingly when the weather was sucking (although I was feeling bulletproof until that first side stitch).
Oh well. +2.5 yesterday and 27 today after my warmup.
