That was an incredible surge that Merga put on to break the field.

Sucks for Goucher though. She was looking so strong and I really thought she would hold on for the W. I agree, she is one hot runner! :D

Yep, they were all right there as a pack. The US has never had that strong breakaway capability unfortunately.

Goucher's legs look great on the ground, even better in the air :D (Ok yes, I'm just dreaming)

Solid run. When's your 'thon again?

May 3; same day as yours I think.
Woot, there'll be lots of us posting race results on May 3. SWScorch and I are running a 15 mile trail race that day also.

I'm running in the Providence Marathon that day also. Though I strained my back yesterday doing yard work and was not able to go for my last long run (13 miles) today.

I think Goucher's inexperience (only her 2nd marathon) cost her. With a strong headwind the whole race and being out front for so much of the race, she allowed the other runners to draft from behind. Then she started her break from the pack too early and didn't have enough for the sprint at the end.

Hopefully, next year will be her year. And yes, she's a hottie! :p

edit - watching the news, there are still people crossing the finish line. I hope to race it, next year.

Dang I hope the muscles ease up in time for your race. Depending on your age a strained back can be a lingering injury. :(

Speaking of marathons, I read in last month's Runner's World mag that the Wineglass Marathon has a high percentage of BQs. I'm feeling pretty strong right now, I'm wondering if I've got it in my to qualify for Boston. The Wineglass is in October, I have almost 6 months to train for it. Hmmmm......

Patience, dude. I know, it's really going to bug me too when I really taper next week. It's hard work being so hardcore!

8 miles this morning for me, including 3x5 min tempo (down from 4 last week :p).

I'm giving my legs a break this week, they are stiff and sore. And I have races in both upcoming weekends. I feel lazy for not running much, but I know I need the rest to be fresh. :(

Coming back from a foot injury, I don't remember the last time I logged miles in here :(

Anyway, 4 today

Though my back is still hurting me, I decided to test it out. Originally, I was hoping to squeeze out 3 but felt good and ran 6.
