If im looking to add some low end, but not rattle the neighbors windows as i drive by, which would be best for me. I want something that i can feel a kick from though...

Typical Music i listen to; (in order of quantity)
Rock (AC/DC, Maroon 5, Incubus, etc...)
Pop
Classical
Techno
Bass

I've already decided on the combo;
Alpine M301 (~ 300 watts at 2ohms)
JL Audio W3v2
Custom Sealed Box

Just need to decide on 12" or 10"

If you want to feel the kick without rattling the neighbors windows, get transducers and bolt them under the seats.

10" for sound quality and tight response, however a 12" in a big enough sealed box would sound sweetest, thats my choice.

tens sound better in general, are tighter, etc. if you like double kick bass drums, tens are the way to go. Plus they dont create as long of wavelengths so they will sound better in a smaller cabin......

good idea. seriously. it will sound better than most tens, and hit harder than most bestbuy class 12's.

whats more important, punch(10) or boom(12)? personally, I cant stand it when a sub cant keep up with double bass and it all bleeds together, so I always go with the smallest sub I can get away with. My favorite combo (which was ripped off) was 2 Boston Pro 10's with about 400 watts each. The only way I would use twelves was if I had an SUV that had the extra room for the wavelengths.

I understand you. I listen to just about everything, as long as it's pretty clean. If you can afford it, get an Adire Shiva 12" subwoofer. They run about $125 and are supposedly some of the most awesome subs there are. I've heard nothing but good things about them. I'm planning on building a sealed Shiva for home theater later on this year :)

Subwoofer size has no correlation to woofer speed. You can make a 15 sound just as tight as an 8 when played at the proper frequencies. Tightness more comes from the frequencies you're playing. 80-120 is the range of kickdrums. Some woofers play better than others in this range. Technically, you shouldn't be playing a sub that high.

As for the 10 vs 12, go for the 12w3v2. A lot more cone area.

Personally, I'd go with a w6v2. Some people prefer the sound of the w6v2 to the w7.

um, as far as I know, the lighter the woofer cone, the faster it can be? therefore a smaller sub can be faster? i thought this was common logic? if you have a sub, in two versions, a ten and twelve, the ten will undoubtly be faster given all other variables are the same.

for rock, I'd go with a pair of 8's or a single 10. faster response, if you listened to rap, I'd say the bigger magnet and longer throwing the pole is on the spyder the better.

False.
Educate yourself: Adire Audio Woofer speed white paper.

It'll also both require as much space and cost as much as most 12's :D
