I was watching one of the history channel shows about one of these crime ridden cities and they decided to really crack down on the drug and the gang problems. The police went into know areas and flushed them all out. It seemed like a good idea at the time but all it did was move the crime to the good neighborhoods and it ended up being worst because regular folk were now getting caught in the cross fire. Best thing to do is to leave it as and try to prevent it from spreading.
Wasn't it Rudy that did a good job of cleaning N.Y.? Wonder where those people went? Looks like Chicago and New Orleans.

It irks me when people make asinine statements like yours. You don't know a damn thing about that area or the residents who live there, it's a small majority of people in that area who have no respect for the law or others who make life a living hell for the people in those sections of the city.

Sorry I struck a nerve, but it's the honest truth from the places I've lived. Peoria is basically a mini-Chicago. Most of our gangbang riff raff is runoff from Chicago. Hell, half of the people they pick up here still have Chicago addresses listed in the crime reports posted in the paper.

I don't care if I'm PC or not...call me racist if you want. Don't really care. But the urban black culture is broken. Just look at the article from the Chicago shootings. One of them was a 1 year old. At a party. At 1:00AM. WTF is a one year old doing at a party at 1:00?

And in the shootings here in Peoria this weekend it was a number of 15, 16, and 17 year olds shot....at 2:00AM. Again. WTF are they doing out at that time?

I currently live right on the edge of the ghetto'y areas of Peoria and have a fairly...integrated street. I've seen toddlers just wondering down the street alone in the middle of the afternoon with no parent in site. I've seen 5-10 year old kids out playing in the streets at 11:00 at night on school nights. Same thing with kids wondering the streets in the middle of a school day. Want to guess what color they were? If I had been doing that as a kid my Dad would have beat my ass.

When it comes to run down neighborhoods...it's not just one or two bad eggs that spoil the basket. The neighborhoods that my parents and grandparents grew up are hollow shells of what they were. They are now run down with unkept yards and houses falling apart. But hey...there's a shiny SUV with perfectly polished 20" wheels out front.

White people aren't blameless either...we've got our share of white trash running around with similar disheveled living conditions and uneducated, knuckle headed kids. But at least they aren't running around shooting up other people. If they kill somebody it's usually a family member. And it's with something weird like a shovel, hammer or samurai sword.

[Edit] Sorry...forgot serial killers which are almost entirely made up of white males, ages 25-40. But they are no where as common as gang related shootings.

This just in...

Abc-7 Chicago is reporting that a family with 3 kids, taking the El train down to the Museum of Science and Industry yesterday, were not shot.

That's correct, neither were shot and all arrived home safely last night. Camera crews are heading to the scene now to interview the family as well as any witnesses, hoping to have more details soon.

Don't be so naive. Gun control laws have little to no effect on gang violence nor would less restrictive gun laws.

Not true. If I can legally carry a gun, then I can defend myself and my family with it. If I can't, then I'm helpless to the gang violence.

I'm not saying that carrying a gun means that I could escape something like this unharmed. However, if some thugs come up and harrass me with my 1yo son, "less restrictive gun laws" most certainly would have an effect on the violence that those thugs would unleash on my family.

Stricter gun laws or even making guns illegal ain't going to do jack shit.

Don't underestimate the mentality and lengths a common criminal will go through in obtaining certain items.

None of the people killed were innocents. This was gang on gang violence...unless you hang out in gangland areas you being armed would have prevented absolutely nothing.
