It is predicted that on average 10,900 people will die every day until 2020 from AIDS. Thats 68,000,000 people. In some countries over 30% of the adult population has AIDs. These countries face the prospect of utterly being destroyed.

does this estimate assume that the death rate is going to remain constant?
what happens in 2020? why does it stop then?

And I care because???? The disease is EASILY preventable. I do feel for people in other countries that have no education system but people in the US have no excuse.

Yes indeed. In both cases, needless deaths are occuring mainly because of self-destructive behavior that could be curbed if the at-risk population put their mind to it (seeking WMD in the face of world opposition in the case of Iraq, and by unprotected sex/intravenous drug use when it comes to AIDS)

No, it doesn't put anything "in perspective" w/the terrorism/Iraq war. (or potential massive loss of life. MOST (not all) MOST, HIV/AIDS infections can be prevented by the person that is unfortunate enough to contract it.

As I said in response to another post, the majority of aids cases, especially those in the most heavily afflicted countries, are the result of ignorance about aids and safe sex. What is common sense to most of us westerners simply is not know among millions upon millions of people. Including many of the 40,000,000+ people that have aids right now.
