Man oh man. Dude, if the large portion of Blizzard public (whom you do not speak for) couldn't care less about graphics and AA, then there is a pretty good chance nobody would have complained. But, as it turns out, people did.

And that was the majority? Or was it some on tech sites?

Are you going to tell me people buy Blizzard titles based on their graphical prowess or technical aspects?

Blizzard is just one of the most successful gaming studios and they would sell millions with or without AA.

Mark my words. AMD owners would not have AA in SCII right now if NV did not. AMD made a very smart move to pull all nighters with their dev team to get this out in just days. You saw the public statement by AMD. They did not have plans for AA in this title. Now, quite suddenly, they do.

This is something you'll find very difficult to argue in anything remotely resembling a convincing manner.

It is called competition. As if it is bad. (of course without NVIDIA, AMD owners might had AA on Batman AA...)

But I can also say for you to mark my words that without AMD, NVIDIA owners wouldn't have so fast cards at so cheap prices.

I just found funny the noise it was made by this when not even a week passed since the game released and AA is available from both companies.

Especially that "tell us what AA you want/what you think" thread. Reminded me of that 5 questions per week or month threads during the time 5xxx was launching and the only question people wanted to ask NVIDIA was "when the hell will fermi be out!".

Well, I'm not sure what to call you, but you basically claimed that I spend money to support my nightmares...
The mere fact that you would call this a nightmare for me is beyond comprehension anyway...

Nope I didn't say that.

I said it must be a nightmare that the market leader is a company that doesn't support all the stuff that you say are essential.

Basically I was saying that what you predict/see as essential is not seen as essential by the market, and since it is the market that buys, it is a bit stupid to try to force it to go another way.

Nothing wrong on wanting more features and I do want more impressive games (and I don't translate that as more realistic, depends of the genre and what I want from a game) just saying, as I said before, that AMD is far from death (especially on the GPU market).

And you can call me gaiahunter.

Yeah really. Where is the mod to delete all the trolling and off-topic posts in this thread ?

Looks like the mod is in the derailing and poo flinging - things he's banned others for. Oh the irony.

And just glad I can use AA and the GF can't talk smack anymore haha. Will install and try soon as I get homehome

I never used the word 'essential', nor did I even imply anything of that nature.

Basically I was saying that what you predict/see as essential is not seen as essential by the market, and since it is the market that buys, it is a bit stupid to try to force it to go another way.

As I already said, I'm a developer. Developers are the people doing the forcing.
If we stopped writing more demanding software, both AMD and nVidia would have nothing to sell.

just saying, as I said before, that AMD is far from death (especially on the GPU market).

AMD's GPU division is doing okay... problem is, it is far smaller than their CPU division, so there's no way to sustain the company in its current form with only a successful GPU division.
But I already discussed that in another thread. This is not the place.

Here is what I think happened.
Nvidia driver writers were working on optimizations for starcraft 2 when someone on their team said.. people in beta are whining there is no AA. Another guy said.. um that is blizzards doing not ours. Another guys says well lets force it at driver level. The whole team laughed and someone states that will cut fps in half and you would barely notice it. Then someone else pops in and says.. ya people are stupid, but lets do it because they want it.

ATI had a similar conversation, but in the end figured people wouldn't care once they started playing so they dropped it. They were wrong and the outcry was huge. So they said... well lets pull an all nighter and get this done. Man people are stupid..

And thus we ATI users now get our 50 percent performance hit with 4x AA just like Nvidia.. YAY.. man we are stupid.

Keys usually behaves but sometimes he messes up. Scali is just trolling as usual, no matter what AMD does, it will never be good enough for him. So Scali you're assuming they have a big hit in performance based on what someone posted here (he didn't even bench, compare)? There are many variables and we need a official source to really have a clear picture don't you think?

Now let's back on topic guys. I think it was really a quick response by AMD.

Does anybody has a link with AMD benchmarks with AA on??

Installed the drivers, set SSAA x4 and what a difference! :D Running all maxed at 1920x1080 and the game's still very smooth.

I did notice one strange anomaly, sometimes Raynor has a stripe on his forehead, like those watermarks in movies that are blurred away not to know who leaked. Happened twice now. Apart from that all's good. Smooth and great experience.

Scali is just trolling as usual, no matter what AMD does, it will never be good enough for him.

Radeon 5770 was good enough for me... Sadly they messed it up with OpenCL and OpenGL. Neither seem to work properly with the 10.7 drivers.
And can we please stop the personal attacks? Thank you. I don't get why people have to attack me in each and every thread. What have I ever done to you? Nothing, right? So try and be a bit more mature and show some respect.
I only criticize AMD, not people on this forum. And I use valid arguments, which I have already discussed in detail. I know what I'm talking about, as I develop DX11/OpenGL/OpenCL software myself, and I am using a Radeon 5770 for this currently. If you don't like it, that's your problem. But don't go around attacking people personally and calling them trolls just because you cannot respect their opinions.

No I don't.
If you're in denial now, you're probably still in denial after an 'official source' confirms it.

So do you think coming to every AMD related thread to say negative stuff about the company is mature??? You bring no value to this forum by doing that. Instead try to have a NEUTRAL STANCE for once.

No I don't.

No, don't get confused now, i'm not like you. See i'm glad that AMD released this update because i'll be able to have that option now but for some reason this release pissed you off when you should be happy (since you claim to have a 5770)

I get the same sort of issues forcing AA on my nvidia setup. The cut scenes look odd when there are closeups of the characters talking, their mouths sort of blur up.

Also get some strange vertical lines running down the screen at times. Actual gameplay has not displayed any anomalies for me though.

Another thing that I remembered is Raynor's hair. When he moves his head, glitter seems to be sprinkling from his hair (or dandruff :p). Sometimes looks weird. It's still a lot less distracting than aliasing IMO.

Wow,you can really feel the sting in the Green camp as ATi takes over as Number 1 in the video card market.
Time for ATi to grind them into paste with the new SI chips.^_^
