I'm just praying for a PS4 deal at Best Buy next week. Sony really does suck with hardware like that. I'm going to have to go with a 500-GB console with a copy of BO3 for $350? That's pretty disappointing, IMO. Microsoft's really making them look bad on the deals front, not that it's mattered to Sony's bottom line thus far (and it probably never will).

Sadly, 25+ posts later, nobody notice my faux pas in the original post -- It doesn't come out until the 31st. It SHIPS on the 29th to get here on the 31st :(

Boy is my son bummed. The thought he'd have the better part of spring break to get to play it and now he gets 24hrs LOL

why don't you go buy it in the store then?

or why didn't you just get release day delivery? amazon does that for free pretty much on all their games.

or why not download it? it's available to preload now so he could play it as soon as the switch flips.

I DID order from Amazon (got the 15% off for Prime members)

Go buy it at a local retail store (Best Buy, GameStop), then return the shipped copy at the store when it arrives in the mail.

Yeap. Just got off chat with them:

Thanks for waiting.
Since you are a good customer of Amazon, I kindly suggest you to place a new order for this item and use one day shipping and I am going to remove the shipping cost on my end for you to have the item tomorrow.

Cancel old order.
Place new order.
Provide order number in chat.
Representative removes $3.99 shipping.
Will have tomorrow.

Took 5 mins and was perfectly smooth.
Amazon wins me over again and again.

I believe they have an option called release day shipping or something like that you are supposed to select when you place the initial order.

Yeah maybe. Guess I'm going to have to check my Lego SW:TFA pre-order too to make sure I got that one right.

LOL just checked order(s) and now I have TWO copies being delivered today.
The one I ordered on Jan 13th AND the one I ordered yesterday.
So the original one was fine and even the dude I talked to yesterday thought it wasn't going to get here until the Thursday.

What a pain in the ass.

What is odd is today I received an email in regards to the order place on Jan 13th that reads:

Thank you for purchasing from Amazon.com.

Your recent order XXXX-XXXX-XXXX entitles you to a promotional code.

Your promotional code:
YYYYY-YYYYY

and instructions on how to redeem.
I would think the bonus material with the MVP edition comes in the box, correct? WTF is this code then? And if this code is the bonus material for the MVP edition, where's my email for the order placed yesterday?

This is all become a tangled web.

Edit: Ah, seems ordering from Amazon comes with EXTRA bonuses:

MLB 16: The Show Pre-order Bonus
Pre-order MLB 16: The Show and receive 10 standard item packs and a MLB The Show 16 highlight player rookie card when the game launches. The pre-order bonus code will be emailed to you within two days of your completed shipment. Offer valid only when shipped and sold by Amazon.com.

If anyone pre-ordered from Amazon and doesn't want that extra bonus code, I will pay ya for it :)

Picked it up tonight after work.

Going to give it a quick whirl and see what immediate differences I notice between it and years past. :)

Well after playing through a handful of games over the last day, I've noticed a few minor on the field changes.
There are several new lines of dialogue for the commentary, a few new animations, especially for fielding and swings which seems minor, but is always appreciated.
I appreciate the baserunner's "Speed" rating displayed on the diamond minimap when they're running the base paths. A nice little addition.

Of course, the real "meat and potatoes" of the game will be the under the hood changes and AI improvements in Franchise mode (for me), and I'll be waiting a few weeks before starting my franchise, to readjust to the game, get sliders tweaked, and wait for the obligatory patches to fix whatever niggling issues remain.

But already I'm looking forward to getting sucked in for another year. Can't wait!

Did anyone get it on PS3? I'm curious as to how it compares. Is the difference just in visual quality, or are the hitting physics significantly worse?

I would seriously doubt the "physics" are much different, or any of the core gameplay fundamentals. I haven't played The Show on PS3 since 2013, but the differences are not in the on-the-field core baseball gameplay.

Obviously, graphical differences are the most obvious, as well as presentation differences. Online features and play being the next biggest.

MLB the show comes out every year with minimal changes = people praise the game

Madden comes out every year with minimal changes = people crap on the game

aaah gamers. logic doesn't follow us around sometimes.

You're making the rather daft mistake of listening to people who don't or had no intention of playing the games (in this case, Madden) in the first place.

Most gamers (you know, the ones who actually buy and play the games) praised the improvements Madden has made. It's by no means perfect, and still has some shoddy, lingering flaws, but most actual gamers who play the games in question are usually very positive on it.

The "exdeath" type folks who resent the fact that sports games exist at all and curse the heavens that they have to share space and time with plebs who would dare play a sports game instead of a JRPG are not doing so out of rational dissection of the game's merits.

I've never bitched about the "minor" changes to Madden every year -- in fact. it's rare there are just "minor" changes. Usually they introduce/change something quite major from year-to-year and arguably warrants purchasing a new copy. People hate change and will bitch about it every_time.

Purbeast0, it's the internet -- people will bitch about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

There are several reasons for this, I think. Like was mentioned below, you have the brand haters. Some just hate Madden for existing, and release annual rants with as little change and substance as they claim Madden to have in those rants. Plus, you have a MUCH bigger audience for Madden than MLB The Show. There's a larger pool and greater variety of people playing those football games. If you're buying The Show, you're buying it because you like baseball, not because it's a game you and your buds can chill out it. Really, it's like comparing football and baseball, in regards to their popularity and fan bases.

The other thing I think of is the starting point. People go on about how NFL 2K5 was, and is, the best football game ever. Madden works from a position of being the franchise that bought its victory, rather than running the competition out of town (like with NBA 2K and NBA LIVE). People long for MVP Baseball's return, but that is mostly the Xbox crowd. People don't doubt the quality of The Show because it's been proven to handle real life baseball incredibly well for years. Madden still struggles with a lot of the little things, like animations and the run game and line play and pass coverage. The game has a lot more going on than a baseball game, so it has more chances to fail, and more chances for those failures to get noticed.
