I live right on the border and this just means huge business from canadians coming here.
If we put an Ikea here the one in the GTA would shut down.

Not too long ago the Aussie dollar was trading in at about US$1 = AU$2.

Now it's at US$1 = AU$1.13. We're not very far off the Canadians. ;)

Do you guys have a tank ? :p

Oh shit, soon they'll have two tanks.

You win the thread.

aye...that line/topic has only shined twice.

the first time, and now.

*tear

Thank you, thank you all. I was sitting there ignoring the emails and phonecalls at work when I saw this thread and it just hit me. I tried to get first reply, but that other bastard baghead got to it before I did.

The thing is it was in most of heads too...

this desire...this want...to delight a few, if not dozens of people with our cleverness....it was this seemingly visceral desire to achieve, as the French termed it "le etage supreme de cool:cool:," and to reap the rewards of many years of waiting....

you have reached that level....

now let go of the elevator button...

lol, Australia has a far more competent armed forces than we do. :)

but yeah, I'm an accountant here in Canada and have really started to see the effects of this higher Canadian dollar on a lot of our clients. Canada was really loving our low dollar because it made us great exporters, but now it's starting to drive smaller exporting manufacturers way into the hole. :(

Oh well, such is the circle of life I guess.

I'm thinking we'll break par within 2 months.

Not just electronics. Bought a jacket that goes for $200 US for $300 + tax a few weeks ago when the it was $1 CAD = $0.95 US.

It's everything, the savings have not been passed down to the consumer... to quote South Park :"You Bastards!"
