I'm SOOOO glad we're vacationing in Hawaii instead of overseas this year. We're nowhere near affording Europe the way the Euro has the Dollar bent over. :(

The US dollar is in a free-fall right now, with the Euro and Pound reaching record highs against it.

The US voters will reap what they sow.

This is absolutely crappy. The US is spending way more money then they should, it's hurting the consumers badly. Go Ron Paul :D.

I really noticed the difference when I was in Washington State last month. It was much easier to spend money knowing that I wasn't losing a ton (or is that tonne) to the exchange rate.

It is not helping our tourism industry on Vancouver Island though. It is not the cheap vacation it used to be for Americans to visit us in our fair city.

While at the same time, effectivly reducing our real wages. Also, service and manufacturing jobs won't come back. They work for pennies to the dollar over in India/China.
the ones we're losing to europe, i mean. hard to do much with china while the yuan is still pegged.
I didn't think it was.

This is what the US gets when they spend a lot more money then it has....

you can thank the "war on terror" for this.

Its more like Bush is letting the dollar freefall to help US exports, while hurting consumers.

gotta protect what got him elected

making the dollar fall will (hopefully) force the chinese to float the yuan. and (hopefully) the japanese float the yen. with respect to other places, greater exports should help drive jobs back to the US, including service and manufacturing (as US labor becomes more competitive on the world market).

You are probably the only one here who isn't a total moron. Everyone else thinks the world is ending, when this is actually what we need.

Really sucks for me, I work for a US company but live in Canada. I get paid in USD. Taking a big loss right now. The worst part is that my bank gives me less than the post rate, so I'm only getting ~2 cents on the dollar

Sad thing is imported electronics are still priced at about the C1.5~=US1 mark so Canadian electronic prices are ridiculous right now. An example is the Lumix TZ3. It's going for 320 US on amazon.com, but here in Canada is like C475...

Not just electronics. Bought a jacket that goes for $200 US for $300 + tax a few weeks ago when the it was $1 CAD = $0.95 US.
