1 minute after noon is 12:01 AM or 12:01PM?

So then, 12:00 is earlier than 1:00? It would make more sense if after 11:00AM was 12:00AM and after 11:00PM was 12:00PM.

There is a technical misnomer here. Technically 12:00 should never be used with AM or PM. Noon and Midnight should be used instead. By convention 12:00PM is noon on most digital clocks, but in actuality it's not supposed to be used that way.

One minute after Midnight is 12:01 AM
One minute after Noon is 12:01 PM

yeah i cant really believe anyone can function in the real world without knowing this. its like forgetting the order of your first and last name...
