Are they still on track for 4 million by the end of this year?

Uh... ok?

Didn't MS have 1.5 million 360s?

Edit: It was 900k in NA by the end of 2005, and that still wasn't enough to meet demand. It case you haven't been paying attention, there are a lot of people excited about the Wii.

flood the market? 1 million isn't really flooding the market. they have no reason to drop the price unless MS and Sony cut theirs down even more.

Hope I'll get to pick up one of those first million though.. I'm pretty excited for this... last time that happened for a console was for the SNES. ok, I was somewhat hyped up about the saturn since it seemed to be superior to the ps1... but i was dead wrong on that one... haha

Actually according to Wikipedia and some other sources, it seems like MS only had around 400,000 units, which is the same as PS3. Interesting.

End of their fiscal year which is 3/31...not calendar year.

They previously announced that they expected to ship 6 million by the end of March 07, 4 million by the end of the calendar year. That's total, not just NA. I thought they were expecting to ship 2 million for the launch date, and the majority would go to NA... so 1 million to NA on launch day is kind of disappointing.

That's NORTH AMERICA though. It includes Canada. Do you know the breakdown of USA vs Canda shipment rates? I mean if USA only gets 60%, they really only have 200,000 more than PS3.

Sony's 400,000 figure is for North America as well.

Also, who would split US/Canada 60/40? Sony is doing 80/20 for USA/Japan, and Japan is a much bigger market than Canada.

I stand corrected. It's still 2.5x what MS had and more that 3x what the PS3 will have.

Because Sony OWNS the Japan market. That's their biggest customer. xBox 360 is a bomb their and they don't have to worry about it. The majority of bad press is out of the states and that's their biggest market they need to penetrate.

Canada has ~10% of the population of the US (32 mil vs 300 mil).

I really doubt Sony is going to have 400k PS3's ready for North America (see past Sony launches)

Either way, the Wii is going to have much wider availability at a lower price.

As long as I get one for retail price before the end of this year, I'll be happy. :)

So, they're not worried about Wii in Japan? Not in the slightest?

EDIT: wait... you didn't answer the 60/40 question, which was the main one.

I'm not sure if you're retarded or something, but this has nothing to do with my question. My question is, does ANYONE know the breakdown of US vs Canada.

Ok? Can I make it any clearer.

No, Sony isn't worried about Wii. Wii isn't being launched in Japan until Dec 2nd. This gives PS3 time to continue building systems for 3 weeks and ship them. Got it?

EDIT: Since you're obvious not very bright...I was asking a QUESTION. I didn't say 60/40 was what the split is, I'm asking what it is. I said "i mean if" IF is the key word here. Use some intelligence please before replying again.

They're going to be competing with Nintendo in Japan too, and Nintendo isn't exactly small potatos over there... the DS is outselling the PSP by a huge margin over there, a bigger margin than over here. So it seems the Japanese are more loyal to quality games than to a company.

1 out of 2 million is still a majority.
