Riley sucks!! Sure, Cal might have lost in OT had it happened, but riley never even made that almost guaranteed option possible.

I mean, I was listening on KGO and the reporters were literally shouting and freaking out. Before the play they said "...Tedford is probably telling him he can NOT be sacked and must throw the ball away....." and then during the play....he kept on screaming "HE'S NOT THROWING IT AWAY! HE'S RUNNING! WHAT IS HE DOING!!.....(pause)...... UNBELIEVABLE MISTAKE! UNBELIEVABLE MISTAKE! UNBELIEVABLE MISTAKE! UNBELIEVABLE MISTAKE! UNBELIEVABLE MISTAKE!" until I thought he was about to pass out.

:( Good times though.

Audio clip plz.

What's even weirder is that he randomly ran off the field with the ball instead of trying to spike it.

I'll try to get it. HEHEH

They shouldn't have even attempted a game winning play to begin with, way too risky. That and they had all the momentum on their side to win overtime.

QFT

That was the play I have ever seen. Everyone was expecting a field goal too

I was expecting that. Had no idea what was going on since I was just watching the scores and plays get updated on ESPN's website, and with 5 seconds left at the 9 or wherever they were, I was thinking, yep it's gonna go into OT with a wellplaced FG right here. Then I saw no score change and that they apparently were attempting to drive it in to the endzone. Idiots.

Don't blame the QB. Half of the blame lies on the coaching. Coaches decide the plays.

No, it was totally the QB's fault. With 14 seconds left and 1st down you easily have 1 play to throw for the endzone. Instead the idiot ran for it when he should have thrown it away. Running should never be an option in such a situation, even if he was a Vick.

BTW, have you noticed the first two college football games on VERSUS channel?

1) USC (1) loses to Stanford in spectacular fashion.

2) California (de facto 1 after LSU lost) loses to Oregon State in even more spectacular fashion.

What's their game next week??

The UCLA/Utah blowout was on Versus too..something about VS that brings out the biggest shockers in college football.
More like its just that the Pac10 being an inconsistent piece of crap.

I was listening to the game off and on at work. I was completely shocked and amazed that we had won, but this is the OSU that I know. With a mere chance of being bowl eligible, people calling for Mike Riley's job and wondering about the program, all of the sudden then start getting it together late in the season to pull this out.

Agreed. He panicked and didn't think clearly. Tedford is one of the best coaches out there in college football, and had it been Nate out there in the same situation, I would put money that he would've at least thrown it away. There were so many penalties. Fine, intentionally ground the ball. Take the penalty, kick the FG. Throw it away is the other option. Spiking it should've worked after he got sacked because he got right up and started running back.

how strange though. that Cal is still ranked quite a few places ABOVE USC in the AP poll and tied in the USA Today poll. Maybe it was USC's lackluster performance the second time in a row (yesterday) compared to Cal's single, close defeat? Also, Oregon is looking pretty good in polls now. Passed up California.
