Well, that scrip must have worked, since you seem to be in much better spirits than you were 2 days ago, lol😛.

After seeing ErikaeanLogic's success with the P4B533-E and the 1008e bios, I updated (updated? can you update a newer bios with an older bios? 😛 ) to 1008e, and I'm currently typing this on my system (which means, for those who haven't been keeping up, that my usb is alive and well at 216fsb). Gonna work on sound next...

That's Erik!! 😀

Glad to hear it, Mikki😀!

THUGS was right, the new XMS3500 is @$$🙁! I guess they're binning the best XMS for the newer XMS3200LL sets

. Gonna try OCZ EL PC3500 next:Q.

WaTaGuMp, all P4m's default to 12x when stuck in a desktop board...🙂

ErikaeanLogic, yeah, it's rubbish...not sure what I'm gonna try next....

Hey Mikki....

I noticed in my epox 4g4a+ mobo (before it broke!!!) it had a 4:3 memory divider. It may be only seen if cpu is jumpered to 133fsb though...BUt I saw it when I was messing with it....

For memory limited ppl this board may help the cpu go higher and still be able to get high memory score....

Duvie, I've been hoping some others would be posting some results with different boards--the Epox being one of them...when you say you saw it, do you mean you saw the option in the bios or in Windows? Our P4B533's and -E's are showing the 4:3 option in the bios at 200fsb+ but it doesn't work....

Newbie question....it's a little off topic, but within the realm of discussion...I'm waiting on my GA-8INXP to arrive( I'm not holding my breath) and I'm also waiting for my serial seagate to arrive(again, not holding my breath), when they finally arrive I'll be installing a 3.06 chip and two sticks corsair 512 xms 3200 and amoung a few other odds and ends a sony dru500a, here's a couple of my questions...
1). the seagate is a serial hd, so do I set the sony as master?
2). My cpu versoin is c22248-002, pack date 12/17/02...is this a c-2 stepping chip?
Thanks for any clarification...
I know there aren't alot of serial hd's out there, but any ideas or advice on setting this up with the sony is much appreciated.

Has anyone tried the 4/3 ratio w/ the 'magic' dip switch in the default mode?
it is worth a try.
i am still tempted to try the p4b533vm and a mobil processor, but i want to make sure the latest bios gives a fsb over 200.
last time i looked it did not

Look out guys..... Technonut is comin' to town armed with a watercooled IT7 MAX to load the P4m in. 😀 Seriously, I just purchased pastorjay's extra 1.7m and am looking forward to seeing what magic I can work. 😉 I should have it early next week. I guess I'll start my own thread also. 😛

hehe...I'm still waiting for you to pull some crazy ds config out and say "Try this!!" lol! 😉😀

i dont understand the gain in overclocking that much to get so little. im not at all trying to take away from your work mikki cause i believe in what you guys do and i think its great. i just wonder if its really worth it in the end.

for example...i see in your 3dmark2001 test you gained a little over a thousand points. maybe im confused here but i gained 1200 points going from a 1.7ghz willy to a 1.8A in 3dmark2001. obviously there is much more to this then i know of and i probably sound very iggnorant, as i am to this because of the lack of experience.

if someone can shed some light in on this situation, i would be more than thankful. once again, thanks ....

daos, no worries, legitimate questions I like...hehe 🙂

At this point there isn't too much of a gain, esp. for someone like Thugsrook, who went from a 2.26b. However, as all of us have confirmed, the high fsb is a noticable improvement in speed, and you're right, I'm not sure that the benchies reflect that. The whole point to this, tho, was if we had memory that could run at seriously high speeds (in the ddr500 range), these chips have the potential to be total animals. Add a GB board to the mix, and it could be insane. hth 😉

I will say this they need to be running 9700 pros then you will see the benchmarks sky rocket cause of how mush that card likes high fsb.😀

now thats an interesting thoery. does someone have a Radeon9700Pro they could use to try this little experiment out? and by the way mikki, i have a GB on order right now so maybe....just maybe i might give this a try. 😉
