She's not going to disappear.

She might. If she's creating havoc with the students, this might be enough to see her off. Or give her an attitude adjustment from above.

The OP didn't do the right thing by being sarcastic and walking away, however, he wasn't the catalyst. The principal needs to know about this, and the other students. I wouldn't want some dingbat librarian causing problems with my child's grade.

Ah good ole school papers. I remember my senior year of HS, becuase of ap courses and the rule where you didn't take the final if your grade was high enough and the final wouldn't change it I pretty much just sat in pseduo study hall for about 90% of the day for the last month and a half.

Except for wonderful english class. With only a couple weeks left my enlish teacher told my it would be an automatic failure as I never turned in my midterm research paper if I didn't turn one in before the semester ended. So I then picked a subject, grabbed about 4 books on it, then mixed the sentences of them up enough so it would be hard to tell how little original writing the paperr contained.

The beautiful part was when I got it back, with a nice 95 written on it followed by an even larger number of the negative type for being late resulting in a 0.

If the assistant or whoever you handed the paper to remembers you turned it in on time, then there is no debate. If she won't correct her mistake, go talk to the principle. Don't be a douche about it, just state your case and say that you tried talking with the librarian herself, but she won't listen.

This isn't an issue which should require parental involvement, handle this one on your own.

If you could have won her over you could have had her regrade your paper and that would be the end of it.

You should have simply let her have her say, then calmly explained that you turned it into her assistant because he said he would take care of it and also to have someone verify that you turned it in on time.

That's what he said he did. Only after the Librarian claimed that she gets everything that is put in her mailbox in response to him telling her the assistant took it to put in her mailbox did he turn sarcastic.

Instead of dragging her out of the office and bringing this confrontation in front of the assistant (who's sole word is the entire basis of your argument), you should have gone to the assistant and had him write out and sign a note stating that you turned in the paper to him on time.

He didn't drag her out. He left her office to go talk to the assistant and she followed him.

Then, whenever you have to have any kind of communication with anyone in this matter, you can bring out a copy of the note.

He can still do this.

Just because you think you're right doesn't mean you should be a dick. You're not going to make things easy by burning bridges with the people you need to deal with to correct the problem.

I can basically guarantee that this is not isolated behavior by the Librarian. Most likely the principal and anyone else in power knows she acts like this. There's no point trying to suck up to people who exhibit behavior like this, especially when you will not likely ever have to deal with them again.

that's why i preferred college. in several classes, i handed all papers due in the class in on the last day (even if they were due several months before.)

i got A's in those classes.

An experience is only worth what you take from it. Learn that when your work is time sensitive, that the person who needs it gets it within that window. While this isn't a requirement for HS, you might as well learn it now because there are a lot of things that aren't requirements in HS that beat the shit out of people in College. If you knew you were handing it in last period of the day and to her assistant, why didn't you shoot an email off right after to let her know? Then you would have had a time stamped email to at least verify your part of it.

I don't think I have to mention that, regardless of how she treated you, you treated her just as bad. It doesn't matter whether she is your teacher, a librarian or the janitor, you should treat that person with respect and if they cannot return the favor you bring that up with a higher authority after the fact. By stooping to her level you made any case you are trying to win that much more difficult.

You acted like a high school kid, so most of this is somewhat expected of you, however the sooner a lesson is learned, the better.

One of the biggest lessons that you should take out of high school is that (a)your superiors will make mistakes, and (b)getting confrontational and telling them so in a hostile manner will just make them want to demonstrate that they're your superiors, NOT make them want to fix the problem.

High school is pure bullshit. You don't learn any life lesson from highschool.
