Is it me, or would this be simply capitalism in action? Make crappy, overpriced product - someone else makes a better one (or is a better marketer, both are valid), the bad one goes bye bye. Or, the government steps in to "save jobs."

I disagree. If remove all the cards and start adding them back one-by-one, you can diagnose a motherboard problem a whole lot quicker. Take off all cards, stick in an old PCI video card that you know works, and try to boot. if it still doesn't work, its not any of the expansion cards....

You have no idea obviously... 1600x1200 is THE perfect resolution. Period. (I'd use it on a 17" monitor, and as for it being "small", you realize you can change the DPI setting in windows and everything is "big" again?) 1024x768 is the next 640x480....

That quadro4 is based on the geforce4, while the 7500 is based on the original Radeon64... Choose the quadro. In actuallity, if you are doing video editing only, it really doesn't matter between the two. You might want to look into an All In Wonder card, though.

You probably will be better off WAITING until you get that new computer, because prices will have dropped even more.. you might be able to pick up a 9700 np cheap then...

Btw, what are your rig's specs? If you have a slower rig it might be better to stick that money elsewhere and purchase a card later, as in closer to HL2 and D3...

the 9600 would be better "future-proofed" against obselecence because of its DX 9 compatibility. and, of course, it will blow away the ti4200 with AA and Aniso on...
