Got mine today. Wow, everything they say about this card is true. I had it installed on my "guest PC" with a set of cheap, generic 2.1 speakers I bought for $30 2 years ago at a computer show. The TB does make the spearkers sound expensive because of the good, clean sound. Like they say, you...
Wow lucky you! Mine had plenty of artifacts after modding :( Like, 10 diagonal rows of white-dot-pairs (little eyes) across the screen. At least I got a sneak preview of the 9800Pro's awesome capabilities. Really awesome and well worth the price difference IMO.
Nice - thanks! I'm going to get one tomorrow.
Question: Is this better (technologically superior? better sound-quality?) than the SB Live 5.1? If it is, then the TB goes into my daughter's PC and I'll take her SB Live 5.1 and put it on the "guest PC" I'm building. (Can you believe it? PCs are...
The card is good. I got the non-refurb, supposedly OEM from NewEgg at 138. It came retail-packaged. A nice big improvement over my GeForce3 TI 200. Best upgrade money I spent to date. (Especially since I'm sunk deep into FarCry...)
Thanks, SunnyD, for asking this question. I'm in the same situation as you are, ie., deciding on an upgrade to my GF3 TI200. So I guess that throws out 9600SE which is on this week's BB specials. I guess I'll order the 9600Pro from NewEgg.
I got FarCry from Sam's BTW. GF3 performs well at...
Any hope for an old IBM 350 GL (that has a slot 1 P3 366MHz)? I flashed its BIOS but still won't recognize the 600MHz Cely. (I see these IBM GLs at odd lot stores for cheap, too.)
My experience with the Via chipset for Intel procs is when I load most of the PCI slots, I had problems making all the boards work together, which is why I shifted to Intel-chipset based mobos. No such problems with my current system and 3 other Intel-chipset based rigs I built for my son...
I don't get it. I know Tiger Direct's reps are rough (probably an understatement some may argue). But I bought my first and second motherboards from them in 98-99 when I started building my own and got my rebate from them for a tape drive I bought a few years back. Shipping is $12 so a 478 mobo...
I don't know who manufactures them but I bought them a week ago. My experience with them isn't good. The 3 DVDs I burned -- one movie, 2 photo/video DVDs for the grandparents -- all were unreadable midway through the DVDs. I had to go out and get expensive TDKs to re-burn the grandparents' DVDs...
