    Question about Asus A7V's ATA100

I'm using the A7V and have my drives hooked to the ATA100 channels and everything is working fine. Never had any problems. As has been said previously, install the Promise drivers, set your boot setting to SCSI/ATA, and enable the onboard ATA device first setting in the BIOS. That should get...

    Asus A7V133 no hd detection.

I have the A7V but I would think they should be fairly similar. If you have it plugged into the ATA100 port, make sure you enable load atabios in the BIOS settings. With mine, my hd doesn't show up in the BIOS either but the ATA Bios recognizes it during bootup. I don't know why it wouldn't...

What kind of printer do you have?

I've got a Lexmark 3200 that I've had for a couple of years already and it works great for me. (sorry iNo712) I would recommend anything in the Lexmark line. Edit: Their new line is the Z series so the similar model would be the Z32. I use the Z52 at work as well and it is excellent.

I could use some hard drive partitioning tips/advice. Thanks!

I did pretty much what you want to do. I partitioned for: Windows, Utilities, Data, Music, Downloads, and Games. I made the games partition the biggest, obviously but the rest I kept relatively small - between 2 and 4 GB(my drive is only a 30 GB). Whenever I am installing programs I always...

Why are these newer ASUS Motherboards give so many problems?

Just out of curiosity - what BIOS version are you running on your A7V? I'm having some problems with mine running 1004c and am wondering if a different version may be more stable.

    errors setting in BIOS

I'm running BIOS version 1004c right now. Is 1007 any better? Would it be worth it to upgrade? Or is there any other version you might recommend?

Well, so far so good. No freeze-ups for a whole day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :-) Thanks again for all the help.

    errors setting in BIOS

Sorry if this is a stupid question but... How do I set the AGP multiplier in the BIOS. On my board I have the option of setting AGP 4X to auto or manual but I can't find anywhere to actually set a specific 1X, 2X, or 4X. I know if I install the VIA drivers in normal mode it will limit it to...

    errors setting in BIOS

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try them when I get home (I'm at work right now). I'm running the Nvidia 6.50 drivers (latest official as far as I now) BIOS is 1004c. I've downloaded version 1007 but haven't flashed it yet - never flashed a BIOS before so I'm kind of hesitant. Temp isn't a...

    errors setting in BIOS

    errors setting in BIOS

I have been having problems with my computer freezing randomly and have been unsuccessful so far in solving them. I just ran across an post somewhere that mentioned the errors setting in the BIOS. I have an ASUS A7V mb and right now it is set to halt on all errors. Could that have anything to...

    problems with excite mail

I am having some problems with my excite mail. A couple of weeks ago I nuked my system and reinstalled Win 98 SE and all my other stuff but now when I try to forward an email from my excite mail inbox it creates the message as an attachment instead of just pasting it into a new email. What...
