You might get some cooling, but not much. I had the motherboard tray on one of my computers cut away behind the cpu... only to get to the bolts of the rather large heatsink I had on it. I got tired of removing the motherboard every time I wanted to replace the CPU. If it makes you happy, cut away.

I got mine last night. It's a AXDA1700DUT3C JIUHB0312UPMW also. I ordered a A7N8X 2.0 and some corsair CMX512-3200. It is running right now with a PAL8045 at 37c with normal surfing. (nice and quiet) Memory 2-3-3-6 at 200 Mhz - 400 DDR CPU at 200x10 = 2000 Mhz at default 1.6v I'm a happy camper.
