Question Most Important NVME Drive specs for USB Enclosure? - Strictly for constant Macrium PC backups - monthly write and delete old

Thanks. I'll have to look at that, the heat though may be an issue for the USB enclosure. And I'm not sure if my Sabrent enclosures are PCIe-4 rated.

Question Most Important NVME Drive specs for USB Enclosure? - Strictly for constant Macrium PC backups - monthly write and delete old

I have a few 2TB PCI-E 3.0 NVME drives in Sabrent USB Enclosures that I use to do monthly Macrium backup and Windows Updates for 5 PC. All PC are standalone with no option for networking. 2 of the PC (grand-kids gaming) are getting very large backups and I want to invest in 4TB drive to avoid...

Question Researching for I9-9900K/KS build - Any MB brands that have max power components/cooling W/O RGB or max SATA/PCI-E/USB?

Looking at possible i9-9900KS build and read up on some of the Branded bundles and some other articles concerning TDP/XMP/MCE in bios. Most of the bundles are all Halo boards. Are there any current boards that were already max for i9-9900K without RGB and other extra components that are not...

Question Any Roadmap for expected Intel MB Chipsets with PCI-E 4.0 or 5.0? Consumer Desktop, not Server or anything else.

I need to push to Win10 from Win7 soon and will also be making another generational leap from Z97 to best I can afford again, MB, and GFX and Storage. Has there been any news on upcoming Intel Chipsets offering newer PCI-E. I know that PCI-E 3.0 is perfectly fine otherwise but if I am going to...

Are there any SSD DAS/NAS that can use M.2 or PCI-E units?

Use case just attached storage. Starting to see M.2 and PCI-E in larger capacities cheaper than 2.5 so was wondering if there were bays for them. But if not separate storage in micro/Matx case may be option to follow.

Are there any SSD DAS/NAS that can use M.2 or PCI-E units?

I couldn't get search on SSD+NAS or DAS so I had to start a thread. I have seen some units that accept 2.5 SSD format but has anyone seen M.2 or PCI-E units? Something that can use retail SSD, not proprietary manufacture/installed.

Any Brand still making Home/SOHO Wired Cable-Routers with Hardware Firewall-SPI

Thanks all, Yeah this needs to be as simple as possible so I don't have to worry about talking my mother through any resets or IP settings. Once I set it up and secure it, I can't get back for months to a year to do any more trouble shooting on it. And if it has any problems with dropping...

Any Brand still making Home/SOHO Wired Cable-Routers with Hardware Firewall-SPI

I'm not ""scared"" of wireless I just don't have any need for it. I don't use a separate laptop in the living room and I don't game or browse on a phone or tablet. And I can't travel to the East Coast whenever my 73 year old mother decides to do something on her computer that breaks a wireless...

Any Brand still making Home/SOHO Wired Cable-Routers with Hardware Firewall-SPI

Thanks, I hadn't thought of just using a wireless in wired mode only. Yes, all I need is basic hardware firewall for inbound connection security. I use Online Armor software firewall on all machines for outbound and program execution security. The only other thing the firewall is...

Any Brand still making Home/SOHO Wired Cable-Routers with Hardware Firewall-SPI

I am still running a 3COM Office Connect 3CR858-91 4port 10/100 Cable-DSL Router on my home PC as well as my friends PC. I would like to find another wired Cable-DSL wired router of the same abilities for my mothers PC. The only things I see on Newegg are switches and wireless cable routers...

Home Page Layout Change? No DailyTech links column?

Sorry if wrong forum but I don't see a "Homepage" or "Webpage Comments" link. As of today I don't see the DailyTech links on the right bottom of the home page, and now the Twitter feed is 3 scrolling pages long on the right side. Maybe a setting in my browser, FF 34.0, but I don't remember...

    Asus VII HERO Flashing Bios

ElitePro, If you aren't going to use any Raid drives, yes, you are good to go. But if you ever want to use a Raid setup with SSD or other HDD you will have to switch that Bios setting to RAID and then it won't be able to see that SSD that started on AHCI only. I had to set to raid first and...
